ParticipantThe Pittsburgh Penguins entered their western road trip without the services of Erik Karlsson, who is out with a lower body injury. Last night,

ParticipantDubas is having a hell of a year. Everybody pegged this team as bottom 5. I’m not saying this is real contender, but they have an “it” factor. We haven’t seen contributions from all 4 lines since those 2 cups. I still can’t believe the Jarry deal.

ParticipantMore than just this year for Dubas. Our 4th line are all his doing previously and many nights are the best 4th line in the league. Braz and Mantha have exceeded any realistic expectations already. Clifton has looked real solid as well. I like the kid we just got from Columbus so far too.
As far as the “it” factor, I put a lot of that on Muse. Complete culture change. Unlike the guy who’s currently leading the Rags to the lottery, Muse plays ALL his players(including rookies) all game. Last night the TOI difference between the 1 and 12 forwards for the Pens was 3.5 minutes. Rusty was the only one to break 17 minutes and Acciari was last at 13.5 minutes. Entire team seems just more engaged. 65 and 71 looked like they couldn’t give a crap last year and both have looked like the All Stars they were a few years ago this season. Shea has been with us for years…never looked like much of anything, but has probably been our steadiest D man so far.
And I don’t know about anyone else, but I am enjoying the team much more than I have in years. Even the stretch where we were choking leads late, we were still playing decent hockey. I’ve only turned off 2 games early all season, where last year that was an average week. I’ve even gone back to yelling at the tv during games lol.

ParticipantIt’s funny how we heard all those rumors about not wanting to play for another coach when many nights they barely showed up for Sully. EK basically admitted him and Sully didn’t see eye to eye. Yohe mentioned something last year about Sully riding EK constantly. If you told me we’d get two serviceable players and a 2nd round pick for Tristan Jarry with no money retained, I’d tell you to seek rehab. Look at that snipe from Chinakov…. dear Lord!

ParticipantThese west coast swings really F with my mornings, and days overall, but worth it when the Pens are playing this calibre of hockey. It’s unreal that they are. 3 goals in 37 seconds last night…and on Jarry to boot hahaha…just awesome.
