ParticipantI also look at Foerster as a future possible captain. Good two way winger. Can play the physical game. Consistency is a problem though.

ParticipantAs has been said by others, I don’t like long term deals for non superstar players, but this is the nature of the NHL. If Foerster develops into a perennial 35 goal player then it will be ok. Let’s hope that happens.

ParticipantNo matter what, the Flyers will get a solid prospect. Not really up on the players other than what I read, but it seems picks 3-7 are projected to be top 6 NHL players with potential to be top line guys.

ParticipantFoerster (I gotta learn how to spell that) is one of two untouchables on the current roster. So in the words of John Malkovich in Rounders, “pay the man his money.”
It’s really a no brainer. This guy has something about him. Has future captain written all over him and has talent. I’ve read before that people have compared him to a very young version of Mark Stone. A high compliment and if so, worth every penny on a long term deal.

ParticipantBecause we can’t have nice things I fully expect them to drop to 6th while the Penguins get the #2 pick. It’s as inevitable as death and taxes.

ParticipantThis wait to know exactly where the Flyers are picking has been killing me. I have been dreaming and I mean absolutely dreaming that the Flyers are gonna get the third overall pick. I’m always wrong, so I’m prepared to move back one slot to 5th.

Bill MeltzerKeymasterThe odds of dropping are higher than holding the default pick specifically as a deterrent against tanking. I’m all for it. Finishing last still has the highest odds of picking first (25.5 percent) BUT there’s nearly a 3-in-4 chance of NOT getting the first overall pick (getting the 2nd or 3rd instead). It goes on down the line for teams near the bottom of the standings.

yes its me 2050Participant“Jonesy” said if you dont want to be a flyer then you won’t. so an offer sheet shouldn’t worry the gold standard.

ParticipantHi Bill, thanks for the post! Congrats and good luck with HHS.
I hate these long term contracts for guys who aren’t stars. I like Foerster, but wouldn’t lose any sleep over losing him. The Flyers being under pressure to get him signed makes me real nervous.
