Toews to the Jets is fitting. Good for him if he can play, even a minor role!
As for Marchy, I don’t think he signs in Toronto. Guy has 2 cups so he either Corey Perry’s this bitch and tries for a 3rd and signs cheapo. Or he heads to Utah or somewhere else willing to pay him 8 million over 3 or 4 years. Even 1 year at that is too much.
Jonathan Toews is about to sign with the Jets (can’t sign until July 1 but apparently has a verbal agreement with them).

Marchand may leave now that he got another cup, I could see him going for an overpay somewhere I just hope it’s not Toronto because I feel like his play in the playoffs was a bit of magic in a bottle and won’t be repeated.
Not sold on McMann. Should be traded for assets. The Marner money should get you two top 6 wingers. Boeser and Ehlers?
I am going to be positive here in that let’s think about what “far apart” means. I haven’t checked any articles about it or sources to know more details so I am speculating but can it not mean Knies wants a shorter term and leafs want longer? It doesn’t HAVE to be dollar amounts and it’ll be an overpay. It could be maybe the leafs want to give him 5 and he wants 8 or 9. I don’t necessarily believe that 8 x 8 would be a 1 or 2 mil overpay. I think we need to look at the contracts this year with the cap going up in the future in mind. We just gotta hope we don’t have another pandemic to stall it all out again

An important note about the Marchment/Seattle deal – GM Jim Nill sent Marchment to another ‘no state tax’ team. You don’t want the rep of sending a player somewhere they don’t want to go after they take less to play for you.Every player that gets moved that someone wanted on the Leafs, its because the Leafs are dumb and didnt just go get him.

Man I’m not trying to dog on you dude because your McMann take is good but I’m just unsure with a cap going up, players in their prime and combined making 13ish million they are taking the same money OR a pay cut to come to Toronto?
As usual, the Leafs are late to the last supper. Instead of being proactive, they go to an early summer vacation. They better be trying to get something for Marner’s rights or they’re brain dead!
If they don’t trade Marner’s rights are you going to be mad when they say “they tried” as you requested here?
Also, for the record, Marchment has a 10 team no trade list. How do you know the leafs weren’t on it?
In addition, considering how many people talk about Marchment as the prototypical “power forward” the leafs need (which any team would need) he went for a paltry trade of mid picks. Let’s not overblow this guy’s abilities.I hope we hear of the Knies and JT signings soon though!
