ParticipantLeafs are 4 – 1 at home so far in the playoffs
Aaron
ParticipantI don’t know. And I mean that literally – not as a passive comment. I just don’t. Keefe’s system was excellent for puck possession but terrible for the risk management associated. Berube’s system is far less risky but also more boring in some ways – and yet in the playoffs Berube’s system scores more, allows less and still looks questionable all too often!
Dubas definitely influenced this lineup, but Rielly was a Burke pick, Nylander was a Nonis pick, Marner and Matthews were Lamiorello picks.
Dubas did bring in, or draft, Holmberg, Robertson, Knies, McMann, Jarnkrok, Kampf, Domi, McCabe, Benoit and Woll.
Treliving in one year has brought in Stolarz, Pacioretty, Carlo, OEL, Tanev, Lorentz and Laughton.
Berube has brought in a bit more of a “get it done” attitude, I think.- The Punkiest Monkey”
We both agree on what Keefe brought but honestly? It always felt he got out coached in the playoffs. Played around with line ups too much. I guarantee after the game 5 loss in the first round he’d have swapped some guys out whereas Berube knew Patches was the guy. Has been against Florida too! Definitely makes me realize Berube has say in who Tree brought in (like Patches and maybe others)
Dubas simply has his fingerprints on the team as it is. I find a lot of teams that have success in the playoffs after firing their GM usually has the previous GMs fingerprints all over it. They just couldn’t figure out how to get over the hump. Not saying the leafs have done that quite yet but they certainly look different.

ParticipantYou newcomers have some baggage, eh?
Leafs win, onto game 3 in Florida.- AA as EggsBenny
You do know your profile legit tells us the time since you’ve joined right? As of me writing this reply, it’s been 5 hours so what are you talking about “newcomers”?
Aaron
ParticipantI can barely think from the blood loss to my brain. This has been unexpected and exceptional.
I feel like somehow uh . . .Dubas and Keefe . . .like . . .maybe weren’t good?
Keep up the good work, Leafs. Very impressive. – The MonkeyMan
I am obviously a Dubas “fan” because his fingerprints are still on this team. He just fell into the trap of a newer GM/every GM issue which is he fell in love with some of his owns players and he wasn’t willing to make the moves until it was too late. I mean he was the one who drafted Knies and Woll, traded for McCabe, I think he brought in Jarnkork but that could have been Tree. He also vehemently stuck to the core 4, especially Styles. Tree deserves a lot of credit here though too, tanev and Carlo are excellent moves and he as well stuck to the core 4.
I think Berube has done excellent and the issue for both Dubas and Tree were believing in Keefe longer than they should have however Tree likely made the pro GM move of keeping him around as an easy “pass” last year.

ParticipantLeafs in 4 bitchados!

ParticipantThis is what I don’t understand – he now knows someone is sabotaging his website from the inside, but he does nothing to stop it.
The only thing that makes sense is that he has officially given up. – Wedginald”
He absolutely has. It’s always “site upgrades and issues with that” and nothing else. I’ve sent him emails that bloggers were putting it in their blog that he’s disappeared and isn’t paying anymore. I mean if he’s got stuff going on at his home, just say so. Don’t half ass the thing. He doesn’t care.

ParticipantBack by popular demand:
Right now it looks like $350 will get you in the building. That means the season seat holder is taking a loss on those tickets.
But there are tons left.
Like always, I suggest you hit the Keg York Street happy hour, and wait to pounce.
Last game, $180 got you greens, 1 hour before the game.
It’s going to be a bloodbath tonight for sellers. – The Wedgster
It feels like there’s a price point where people just don’t want to commit to these sales and enjoy the game at home. I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s issues moving forward with sports in general and seating. Yeah big stuff sells but people aren’t going to keep paying 1k or more to see them give a listless loss like in game 5. Not worth the gamble for 2k lol.

ParticipantWell, you’re one of the few folks that can post in both places, so get on it!!! – Whippiest
I can post but I have zero desire to go back to that site
Aaron
ParticipantYeah Whipperest Whipper, team is built different. Previous years I would have thought they’d have crumbled in game 1 when Florida mounted a comeback
Aaron
ParticipantUtah has named themselves Mammoth and on Prince’s point, Bedard is not generational.

ParticipantThat pretty much already happened when the website was down for, what, a week recently? Ek played it off like it was a website update or migration, but pretty sure that was bullshit. It’s dying, and fast.
I take no joy in this, I spent large chunks of almost 20 years on there. I just wish Ek would give up his whole schtick of being some connected insider. Like, dude, you weren’t talking or texting with an NHL GM today. Whipperest Guy Around
He also recently said he was “making a large upgrade in the spring”…well it’s the spring. I’ve emailed him a few times and he just ignores everyone hoping to collect money off the clicks still. Guy is clearly a fucking loser.

ParticipantI tried to get in 3 weeks ago, but it wouldn’t let me until May 1st. Before everyone else came in I had to think how ethical it would be to invite everyone over here. At the time, I just came off a month long ban for not much. I was able to use my alt account for that month, but you have to be super careful to not trigger a lifetime ban. At the time I thought it was unethical, but now having second thoughts, why sweat it? It’s time to talk to participants in other threads over there and see if they’d like to take a look. If the Habs fans decide to take a walk, the Buzz will be really in trouble. Do I relish what is happening? Not at all. It was a great place to talk hockey for the last 20 years. I have no idea what went down to get Mike and the Metz to leave. It seemed very peculiar and now we have a new outlet to try and build. I just hope that we can all realize that we sometimes went to far and insulted one another too many times. I’m hoping a reset gets everyone to respect other’s views. In reality, it’s a place to discuss the great game that we all love, Hockey. I hope the rest of you find the same peace and understanding that we are all different and we all have our own points of view. – Princy boy
I wouldn’t sweat it on posting over there. Ek doesn’t respond to anything and there’s plenty of evidence of him not paying bloggers/not responding/having no money left. It’s likely why Metz and Augello left without some sort of delay.
Honestly? It took a long time but when a place starts being overrun by troll types and stuff like political talk it slowly degrades the place and more average people refuse to go back. There’s places like this, reddit, FB or a billion other social media platforms people can go and not be bombarded by ads or non-hockey talk. We can definitely build up this place to better than that.
Also, we can respect others views but I think some people have to cut it out on troll attempts on their own fan base and others have to not buy into it and respond.

ParticipantLeafs are lucky they have 1 win already Alex to afford Stoly the extra rest. To be fair here, up until the last few weeks of the season everyone had been questioning who would be the starter. Woll is quite capable so as a fan I have no issues.
Aaron
ParticipantYup. Refs send DMs if they are nice to let someone know they were banned.
Aaron
Participantdont make me go back to the buzz..cuz this forum is not usable at the moment 🙁
Some of us don’t have that option…You get a ban too? Must be a ref of another team going around and banning leaf fans for the fun of it. Sour grapes most likely. It seems to only happen when the leaf fan steps out of the leaf blog.
