We need Brukies draft pick odds chart thing to see what they were for 5 draft picks being on the same roster for a GM.

    Laba
    Sykora
    Fortesque
    Chmelar
    Perrault

Without being even more sarcastic, what is up with Lamb? He started off pretty well in Hartford. And Spence? Maybe Aec knows. Can he sign after the frozen four? I think he’s playing for Michigan right now

Spence, I believe can sign at any time. Lamb has been a slow burn for the Rangers, hes been with the organization for what seems like forever but he put up a solid year in college. Laba nobody saw coming. Ive said before, Chmelar reminds me so much of Julien Gauthier… good size, speed, hands… however unlike Gauthier who had the tools to be a solid mid-6 winger, hes actually able to finish. I remember when Sykora was drafted, in his interview he said he wanted to mold his game after Brad Marchand, so Ive always been curious to see him eventually get a chance.

Elliotte Friedman: Re Panthers: I’m very curious to see what’s gonna happen with that [1st round] pick; if it ends up being 1 or 2 [overall], I don’t know that you’re trading it, but if it ends up in that next little area, I dunno, just watch – 32 Thoughts (4/6)

Seems like Friedman reads this blog and agrees with me

You don’t think, for example, trocheck at 50%, our later 1st round pick, and a prospect like emery or something gets that done? Now if you’re saying drury sucks too much to even comprehend something like this I wouldn’t call you crazy.

I didnt say Florida wouldnt trade the pick, I said we wouldnt offer up the pieces that they’d want for it.

…and no, that trade you proposed wouldnt do it. That might get them to move up to around 14-15. However, until the lottery happens, its all hypothetical.

Not trocheck for a top 10 pick straight up. Obviously

We would not be offering up the ammo that would get the Panthers to trade a top 10 pick.

So torn about how Id want to Rangers to use their pick if they miss out on 1 or 2 because there seems to be so many solid options/prospects to draft from this year that maybe a quantity approach could be a good option too. For example, we could draft Verhoeff or Reid… or…

We can trade back, as well as try a series of trades to move up and down, to end up with Lawrence or Malhotra, Rudolph and Novotny.

Not Cuylle, Im talking about Trocheck. I wouldnt trade anyone younger than 26. Gotta build it up.

Ah, it was pickle that suggested that Cuylle should be available for the right price. I personally would never want to trade a 20 goal scorer who is always leading the league in hits. I feel like theres a bit more offense in that stick once this team gets their crap together.

The one thing that worries me the most is Drury is going to overpay for Boeser to come to NY to reunite with his buddy JT.

Well if doesnt trade him, once again he will look like an idiot for announcing everyone is up for trades and keeping him out of the line up. Another black eye for the organization. Milbury, as Id rather call him, is just a black eye for this organization.

I really dont want to trade Cuylle, but if we were to explore that option, what are you looking to get in return?

We are stuck, this team is nowhere near a playoff team let alone a Cup Contender. After saying he was getting traded, you have to trade him now.

How can you say we havent played any good teams and think there is something going on? This team is playing with no stress or expectations. How many times were they out shot and our goalies saved us? There is nothing going on here for next year. Mika duplicating this season next year is a bit of a stretch and Miller will have to be 100 percent better just to make the playoffs. No grind. Like you said fools gold.

The team, yes, its very stuck. Every time I try to make an ACGM, the “puzzle pieces” are all weird as far as trying to make a combination of lines that make sense. Since you have to think that the likelihood of Trocheck being gone is there. Then you have to make a line with Miller that never looks good. The bottom 6, however, Im optimistic about and its easier to make something up with Chmelar, Sykora, Laba, Kartye. Then you get to the defense, and outside of Gavrikov/Fox, you’re kind of left scratching your head.

As far as having to trade Trocheck, how often has Drury done things that make sense?

Goes back to my thoughts of if we miss out on the top 2 picks in the draft, is there a world were it makes sense to trade back to acquire more picks and really go ham on rebuilding the prospect pool.

    Its a hatty for Perreault.

    A) I don’t think there’s a realistic price too high outside of perreault for adding a top 10 D and Center in this draft. Especially for this organization
    B) There are teams that definitely want/need to be in the playoffs next year hovering around that #10 spot that would definitely take a roster player like trocheck in a deal for their pick. FLA, SEA, WPG, LAK. His no trade list becomes even smaller after this season ends. Also players like Schneider and Cuylle should be on the table for the right move

With all of that being said. Let’s just pray we end up with Mckenna or Stenberg and then we don’t even need to worry about this

There is absolutely zero chance any of those teams trade a top 10 pick for Trocheck, ESPECIALLY not Florida. Florida has negative cap space and no depth at LD, so the potential to draft Smits or Carels, if anything I could see Florida trying to move up to draft one of them. That ELC protection for them is worth more than trading for Trocheck. SEA isnt a Trocheck away from being a cup contender so that would be silly on their part.

The best chance the Rangers have of maybe moving up is packaging Schneider and the Carolina 1st… but Im not sure how far up the draft that will get them, maybe to around 15.

Also… as far as PPG players.. maybe its fools gold, maybe its not… but since March 1st…

    Gabe, 18GP – 7G 10A 17PTS
    LAF, 18GP – 9G 10A 19PTS
    Zib, 18GP – 9G 10A 19PTS

Sure, you can argue the competition of play since March hasnt been the best of the best but theres definitely something flowing there.

However, we do need another line that is producing to this level.

Again, I reference 35 yo Schenn and the year he had this year as not being an impasse for a significant trade.

True but he has to want to waive. His wife had said last year, they arent moving. It was bad enough getting stuck with him for 4 more years, now we have Captain Chaos for another 4 freaking years too.

To be fair, I dont consider us “stuck” with Trocheck. Its a pleasure to have him on this team. However, his NTC goes from 12 to 10 teams. Maybe that was part of the play also to not trade him at the deadline. Will those 2 additional teams actually matter, probably not. He is who is he, he will give you 50+ points, hes fantastic at faceoffs, solid leader and he will be cost controlled for a team that may potentially be stuck against the cap ceiling for 3 more years. Were certainly not stuck with him, many teams will be kicking tires on his services, its just a matter of whats being offered because Drury has made it clear that he doesnt just want picks and a project prospect.

Not quoting so this isn’t half a page.

Sheary on PP2 last night made me so fucking angry!!! Even before the miss. The 1st time he was out there and Laba wasn’t!!! Give me Kartye before 43. Christ Sullivan, enough!!
As for Trocheck, at this point id like to see him stay. At least until the trade deadline again. That’s where we have the most chance of an overpay. And in the meantime, he’s a guy I don’t mind the kids learning from.
We aren’t in the position to need a PPG player yet. Which, btw, Mika is. He’s 4 points of that pace right now. Given all the shit that’s gone on around here this season, I’ll grant him that grace.

True but the thing is will he be able to do it again next year, at a year older? Im not gonna bet on it. I think a decline is more so than an uptick.

Again, I reference 35 yo Schenn and the year he had this year as not being an impasse for a significant trade.

If they don’t get a top 2 pick (McKenna or stenberg) that means they end up with one of the defensemen, which is fine. But drury should absolutely then try to trade up into the top 10 to also add one of the centers (Lawrence, malholtra, Bjorck)

A late 1st round pick without a potential franchise forward like stenberg or McKenna doesn’t do enough

Trying to move up to get another top 10 pick, using the Canes pick, would be an extremely expensive endeavor in this draft.

I didnt say we necessary pick anyone up in the offseason/FA, just saying manage it right.

Im in no rush to trade Trocheck. I dont think his value drops. Look at what Isles gave up for Schenn, who is 2 years older.

Miller getting the Rod Gilbert award is a joke.

This is a spit in the face of the fans is what it is.
