I know no one wants to hear this, but Trocheck isn’t going anywhere. It’s clear that he’s a leader and with all the changes the last two years the last thing they need to do is trade more leaders. I think Drury finally sees that too. They look to be finally settled into a cohesive team again. Without the drama around. Just look at Shestys record and you can tell they have the pieces to be good next year, so trading centers isn’t the best idea. Since we don’t have anyone to replace him. They need two wingers to establish themselves and probably a LHD. That’s when they can be serious contenders again. Who they are will be the million dollar question

They are playing out a string of games that mean nothing, they got a youthful injection of adrenaline and are riding it out, no pressure, nothing. They started to win after the Panarin trade, so you want to put this on him? He was the best regular season player on this team and put up more points than all the rookies combined.
This end of season push has been against all but 2 non playoff teams, maybe that is why they are above .500 but against playoff bound teams, they suck, even before Igor and Fox got hurt.

Its all hypothetical at this point. No one knows where anyone is picking. Do you think anyone in their right mind would trade a top 5 pick for a 33yo and a later 1st rounder? What would it take to move up from say we have the 10th pick to pick 7th?
Im pretty sure not one team would trade a top 5 pick for anyone less than a top 6 player. Its a cost controlled player for the next 6 years. Every team needs a player like that.

Well if doesnt trade him, once again he will look like an idiot for announcing everyone is up for trades and keeping him out of the line up. Another black eye for the organization. Milbury, as Id rather call him, is just a black eye for this organization.
To be fair, I dont consider us “stuck” with Trocheck. Its a pleasure to have him on this team. However, his NTC goes from 12 to 10 teams. Maybe that was part of the play also to not trade him at the deadline. Will those 2 additional teams actually matter, probably not. He is who is he, he will give you 50+ points, hes fantastic at faceoffs, solid leader and he will be cost controlled for a team that may potentially be stuck against the cap ceiling for 3 more years. Were certainly not stuck with him, many teams will be kicking tires on his services, its just a matter of whats being offered because Drury has made it clear that he doesnt just want picks and a project prospect.
We are stuck, this team is nowhere near a playoff team let alone a Cup Contender. After saying he was getting traded, you have to trade him now.
Also… as far as PPG players.. maybe its fools gold, maybe its not… but since March 1st…

How can you say we havent played any good teams and think there is something going on? This team is playing with no stress or expectations. How many times were they out shot and our goalies saved us? There is nothing going on here for next year. Mika duplicating this season next year is a bit of a stretch and Miller will have to be 100 percent better just to make the playoffs.No grind. As for Trocheck, at this point id like to see him stay. At least until the trade deadline again. That’s where we have the most chance of an overpay. And in the meantime, he’s a guy I don’t mind the kids learning from.
We aren’t in the position to need a PPG player yet. Which, btw, Mika is. He’s 4 points of that pace right now. Given all the shit that’s gone on around here this season, I’ll grant him that grace.True but the thing is will he be able to do it again next year, at a year older? Im not gonna bet on it. I think a decline is more so than an uptick.

Drury just itching to overpay Sheary.My post from yesterday disappeared. Ill try to make it quick. The last month doesnt hold much weight for me. Team was out of the playoffs and played .500 hockey against all non playoff teams aside from the win against the wild. Most first lines have at least 1 PPG player, at this point the Rangers do not. Im not sure what Trachecks value is but he isnt going to get a PPG player for us, nobody on the FA market to sign and we dont have the assets to trade for a PPG player. This team will go forward with basically 2 second lines and a 3rd and 4th.
Honestly, I dont care anymore. All I care about is that we get a top 5 pick, we dont blow our load, pick the BPA and we manage the off-season/free agency the right way. Thats it, thats all I want. I dont want us chasing and overpaying any players in a trade. I also dont see any benefit to trading Trocheck in the off-season.
If the team ends up last in the East again next year… to quote the infamous Lt. Col. Frank Slade, Dolan needs to take a flamethrower to the entire organization and get rid of JT Miller. If he doesnt waive his NMC, buy him out, I dont care, get him off this team.
There is no FA that will come in and put us over the top so Id stay away from all of these upcoming FA. I love Trocheck, he is a playoff guy and good leader but this team didnt make the playoffs with him, trade him and get whatever assets you can get for a soon to be 33yo 50 pt guy. Keep rolling with the younger players, like last night when Sully didnt start to play them until the third and look what happened, they came back. Re-aquiring Miller was a mistake even if it meant getting rid of Chytil. We took his Cap hit for 5 years at 8 mil per. Watching Sheary on the PP just makes me laugh at how pathetic Sully is, this guy wasnt even in the NHL last season.
