ParticipantI was just curious since we are so far under the cap for next year, i imagine the Blackhawks will be paying the max bonus to Connor Bedard and I’m sure other ELC players will be getting a bonus, can the Blackhawks count that money towards next years cap hit?
All the bonuses we paid for the 2010 cup win, especially Toews’ huge bonus went into 2011? So I expect so?

Seems like every game lately, we have at least one period where we dominate and overall we seem to be playing teams more even 5v5. The standings are so tight, the few blown calls by the refs and a minor mistakes have been the difference from this team being around the top 10 vs being 21st in the league.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I know the goaltending has been huge, but if they can just tighten the screws a little more defensively and find one more star forward, this team is going to start to be a problem.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I like Rinzel’s game, but man he has been getting caught a half step behind a bit too much lately and taking penalties or just barely getting away with infractions because he is trying to keep up. Last night vs Vegas he probably could have been called a couple more times for getting his stick in the hands because he was beat. I’m wondering if the NHL grind is wearing on him a bit.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Overall, really like the position we are in. Cap space is looking good. Young players growing into bigger roles. Prospects excelling in various leagues right now. 5 more draft picks this year in the first 2 rounds. We could be in for a really fun next 5-10+ years or more depending how they manage these assets.
I can’t wait until we dominate the Preds. I hate those mother )(&^$#@×/_>.

ParticipantLev still needs to master the art of checking. Hire Bickell as a coach.
Not a D-Man either but I’m going with Dave Bolland.

ParticipantDon’t look now but Lev is on the rookie scoring leaders list with Demidov. The Lev pick is looking better every day. Demidov is a one trick pony. Lev is a horse you’re going to ride.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Thanksgiving is a milestone to determine playoff contention. By point per game %, Tankathon has the Hawks out of the playoff picture. CHI with the 11th pick and Florida with the 12th. Just for the heck of it I did a draft simulation and the Panthers moved up 10 spots to 2 and the Hawks dropped to 12.
I think there are scenarios where we continue to get better than we’ve been this year: Lev has a monster second half; Lardis comes up and adds a spark; Moore and Nazar heat up; KD adds a body or two… Then again, we get a bunch of injuries and it all comes crashing down. At least for the first time in many years the arrow is pointing up.

ParticipantA game like this against the AVS is why I wasn’t impressed with Frondell’s hot start. Instead of having 8 goals at the time, in the NHL he’d probably have zero. Just using him as an example, he had way too much space, too much time and too crappy goal tending.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>So, here is a suggestion for the NHL. Institute a rule that reads Any contact with the head, whether intentional or incidental, will result in a game misconduct. Then let’s see how often it happens.
In the NFL intentional or not, it’s at least a fine. Intentional is a suspension.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>The NHL has no integrity. These Refs are horrible. The slash happened right in front of him and then he is so thin-skinned that he has to call Bedard for unsportsmanlike conduct. He blew it and he had to hide his embarrassment. Why doesn’t the NHL protect players’ heads? The NFL goes out of its way to do it. Twice in the last two games! The NHL will never be anything more than a junior league. Their officiating is crap!
I’ve been saying for years, the NHL will change when they lose a lawsuit. They don’t have NFL money where the commissioner makes $50M a year. Last night’s loss will be worth 5 extra wins this season. They just learned the hard way hockey is a 3 period game.

ParticipantI love, for the most part, how this team is playing. One downer I will bring up is we are still in the middle of a rebuild. This is going to be interesting for KD if he goes out and gets another piece or holds pat. I think he will stay status quo as he has too many variables on what he has.
We still get hemmed in and outshot by large margins. But it is much better than the last couple years. Our great cup teams Crawford would get bored facing about 20 shots a game because the puck was always at the other end. That is our next big step to climb.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Was interesting to see Arty leading the D men in ice time through two periods.
I believe he was 2nd only behind Vlasic.<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Rinzel got the sheltered zone starts, and had a solid game.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Bedard’s FO numbers up to 48%,not bad considering how bad he started the 1st few games of the season.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>The overhead view on Greene’s dish to Bedard and Bedard’s wrist shot is pretty insane.
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Some weird stats out there
I think the Kings only have 6 regulation wins, and have played 13 games on the road and only 7 at home!
Montreal and San Jose – both doing well in the standings, but both have a lot of OT wins.<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I think I’m in the minority when I say I hate 3 on 3 OT hockey
I hate 3 on 3 and the shootout. Can’t say what would be better but wouldn’t want anything over a 10 min. OT.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>re: Crevier rumors
<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>It’s very unlikely that Crevier is traded for another D. (unless an AHL depth D-man is included as a minor part)
That means the current roster goes to 6 defensemen.
Any injury (Murphy’s chronic groin problem is due to make an appearance) would drop them to 5 current guys.
That tells me Crevier is traded *only* if the team is 100.00000% certain that one of KK, EDM, Allan can, at minimum,
replace what Crevier is giving the Hawks so far this year.
Also: Crevier is a right shot, the other 3 are all left shot.<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Are those guys ready?
I’ve checked around, it seems that all 3 are at least “doing well” in RFD this season.
Does anyone here watch a lot of RFD games? Interested in hearing about their performance.
(cough new Frenchy article cough)<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>🤘
We’ll be sorry for years if we trade the big guy. He’s decent defensively, nobody F’s with him and his right shot is vicious.

What took him so long?
