I’m calling it a “goalie loss” last night…

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>If the way we were winning was unsustainable in the beginning of the season then logic would say we need more talent, 3 ways of getting more talent is FA, trade or draft closer to 1st instead of 31st? At least they are guaranteed one avenue of getting better.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Saying tanking is the only way ignored reality. The Hawks didn’t win those Cups because they lost on purpose, they won because they drafted and developed players outside the top of the draft, and had competent management. Tons of teams tanked just as hard and are still irrelevant. Tanking gets you picks, it doesn’t build a dynasty. Development does.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>If tanking worked like people claim, the Hawks wouldn’t be the exception_every bottom feeder would be a contender. High picks
Didn’t win those Cups, drafting, development, and smart trades did. Losing on purpose isn’t a strategy, it’s an excuse.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>If tanking were the only way, every rebuilding team would eventually contend. The NHL has shown over and over that development and scouting beat draft position

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Tanking is what bad organizations hide behind. The Hawks built a dynasty because they were elite at development, not because they were elite at losing.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Bedard isn’t a rebuild, he is an opportunity. Tanking got Chicago a player, not a team. Until they show they can draft, develop, and build depth like the old Hawks did, “tanking works” is just a cope.

We’re still missing the Sharp trade, the lucky Bufglyien draft and the Hossa signing. Ladd was also a trade I believe? Possibly Burakovsky fills one of those roles.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>You can spin the Davidson quote all you want but it puts Bedard in a bad light for no reason. Another self inflected wound from the GM.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>As for the Hawks being 2 years away, away from what? The Habs, Ducks, and Caps are 2 years away from being Cup contenders because their young players are going to be hitting their prime and supported by vets. In 2 years the Hawks will still be integrating early 20 year olds who are just going to be learning the league. Who knows what vets will be supporting them?

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>The last thing this franchise needs is stoic stability and letting Davidson figure out who goes and who stays. He did the tear down. There are a few interesting pieces but do you really trust him to wheel and deal his way to a Cup? Based on what? The Dickenson and Mikayev trades? Knight had a hot start but his numbers are falling.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Winning builds culture, identity, and creates a place people want to play. Not sitting around and accepting historically bad results. This is a results business.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>Davidson has never won anything, anywhere.

Jeez SFG, did KD’s mother dump you in high school?

    <p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>while i am at it:

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>San Francisco whallops the Bears and takes control of their playoff standing by grabbing that first seed. Reality checks non the Bears in the post-season, but the organization does little hibernation, and plunges step by step into the 2026-27 season.

The defense is deep and getting guys back. Hopefully Booker doesn’t get suspended. I don’t see anyone walloping this defense.

Now that Nazar is hurt, this team is about to take the plunge. Should be an active trade deadline day!

KD and the fans got a taste of winning earlier in the season and it felt good. If there’s a trade to be made I’m sure he will make it. Finding the match is always the difficult part. That said, we were at our best when we were using our speed. Therefore, I would expect KD would continue looking to those types of players. The Mik’s and the Bura’s. Wondering why/what happened with KD’s Lafferty move?

The Kraken look like a team that could become sellers very soon. Mason Marchment will be a UFA at the end of the season

Frenchy, good call on Marchment being available. Columbus swooped in, not a super huge cost.
He has a 10 team no trade list, I wonder if the Hawks tried for him. If so, were the Hawks on his list?
Columbus is last in the East, so it’s not like he went there for a playoff run this year.
Maybe they already shot him a number for his next contract?

If a player had Chicago on a no trade list and was ok with Columbus, we don’t need that guy. Too stupid!

Where is our leading goal scorer from last year?

in reply to: Blackhawks 2025-2026 General Comments #54428

It’s not too soon to start projecting Crevier’s next contract. I think due to inflation it will be higher than Vlasic’s and could start with a something x $5.x.

Mason West playing for Fargo tonight. Streaming on Flo Sports.

What happened to West playing for Michigan State?

in reply to: Blackhawks 2025-2026 General Comments #54132

Move Crevier to Center and use him on shoot outs. An obvious move imagine the goalie seeing the big guy coming down the ice at him.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I said they were ruining Korchinski. I said they were wasting Bedard because they failed to surround him with talent. They found a slightly above average winger for him this year and Bedard is approaching the top of the league. I also thought the coaching was subpar under Richardson and was skewered for it.

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I don’t think Blashill is Q but is there anyone out here that looks back fondly on the Richardson years?

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>There is nothing quick about Davidson except collecting his check on the 1st and 15th.

Bedard worked on his body this offseason. He’s a different player than his first two years. Kudos to him for understanding what he needed to do. Now if he could just win an f’ing face-off.

KD has fallen in love with his picks and is too passive. At this pace Foligno should win the Hart because the Hawks have looked worse than the Richardson years in several games since he was hurt. Buffalo, Seattle, Nashville, ANA first 45 seconds, LA, Sunday in ANA.

Where were you on the last road trip? Oh yeah, things went well.

As a guy who doesn’t follow the whole league, how did the Ducks rebuild so fast?
