I can’t see this experiment working. All the rookies are a bunch of weak, undersized junior players. Wirtz has to get rid of Davidson and get a real GM.

This experiment is going nowhere. It’s time to get a real GM who has a clue what he’s doing.

Earl, if the Hawks miss the playoffs by a couple of points. Remember that NHL playoff contenders keep a veteran goalie around for emergencies. KD traded his insurance policy to meet the cap floor a couple of days before he needed him.

Davidson is wayyyy out of his league.

Spellacy won’t sniff top 6 anytime soon, if ever. He’s 4th liner on a contender that could slide up to 3rd if/when needed.

Another bad draft pick. Wirtz has to can Davidson before he does further damage to the team.

Thanks for the back and forth. Clearly you are in the Davidson can do no wrong crowd. It’s adorable how beloved he is. I said the returns are underwhelming. Are you overwhelmed? I prefer when GM’s fluff up their prospects before trading them like Columbus just did instead of burying them and selling them cheap. I will double down on my sad sack attitude: One of the NHL goalies will probably get hurt in the next couple of games and people will wish there was capable NHL backup in the system to keep the playoff dream alive. Ooops Hawks traded one to meet the salary floor. I think the Hawks have interesting prospects and other teams do as well. Hard to tell who is going to be better till they start playing with and against men. It is unclear how any of them develop. Rinzel was hyped as coming in on the top D pair. He was rushed. Frondell, Nestrasil, Spellacy, and Kansterov are all going to be projected as top 6 forwards for next season and all of them would benefit from a year in Rockford or stay where they are.

Finally, someone who hates Davidson like I do. Clearly he’s in over his head. What has he done? He traded Hagel, Debrincat and Kirby Dach and what has he drafted? An overrated China doll center, another China doll center both of who are currently injured, surprise, surprise. What other draft picks are any good? How about the cop trading away a top defenseman for a backup goalie. And over paying a below average defenceman and the previously mentioned China doll center who’s overrated. And of course there’s the unproven coach.

Grier playing chess, Kyle playing checkers. Allan didn’t need to be moved yet. It’s still early January for cripes sake. Could’ve just been Ellis for Brossoit without bending over and showing the undercarriage. C’est la vie

Allan’s not waiver exempt after this season and I believe Furlow is.

Both of them blow, Kyle doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. Name one good prospect he’s drafted.

Do you think Kyle can even play checkers?

<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I haven’t been around as I was busy moving, but I wanted to say things are looking good. On pace for an 82 point season. Heck of a strong improvement for a young team. We need only 9 points to match the 52 point season two years ago and only 18 more to match last year. Been saying it since the end of last season, we likely get about 75 to 80 points and get out of the bottom 3 to 5 teams. Last season the offensive production improved, this year better D and goaltending. Soon it will be about building around the core by filling holes and maximizing depth to be a real contender.

According to Steve from Glencoe nothing is going right.

Absolutely nothing is going right! Bedard is a second rate undersized Center who would be a third line forward on a good team. Other than that what do they have? And today they trade Nolan Allan who would have been the second best defender of all the young guys. Add to that a coach with zero qualifications and a GM who’s in wayyyyyy over his head.

Lots of top end shooters in the Hawks’ prospect pool. Lardis may be the best, Kantserov, Frondell, Behm, Nestrasil and not quite in the same league but very very good is Vanacker.
