Participantwere danny boy and “jones” forced to fire torts? if so by whom I wonder. clearly, he had to go though danny has said numerous times he wanted him back.
hiring torts set this franchise back many years. either danny didn’t have the balls to fire him when he was named GM to go in his own direction or he wasn’t allowed. Either way it is terrible outcome.
Why is Jones in quotes here? Are you saying that it might not really be his name?

ParticipantAs a player Jonsey is portrayed as a guy with no skill or talent and a questionable work ethic, yet he was a solid NHL role player. As a broadcaster he’s portrayed as a clown who makes fart jokes, yet he was the top color guy in broadcasting. Now he’s the dopey broadcaster who lucked into a meaningless figurehead role…

ParticipantBarkey is a mini TK? I thought TK was already mini?

ParticipantI don’t know, I could see it being a tempting situation for a lot of teams. A chance to get a possible solid NHL starter at a discount price. All you need is a little patience and some spare $$.
Yeah, Hart would be a significant upgrade over anyone the Flyers have. Jones doubled down on his support for Ersson last week.
Who knows if he’ll be an upgrade? It’s been a long time since he played NHL hockey. He seems a little mentally fragile. Who knows how everything has/will affect him? I imagine he feels some kind of way about the Flyers not having his back through everything (although every team would have done the same) and might not want to come here. He also knows that fans (and media) here are more familiar with him than in most other US hockey towns and there’ll be a good chunk of them who won’t want him here. I think he’s a dick, but he had a fair trial. He wasn’t found guilty of any crimes. I’d take a chance on him at a minimum salary.

ParticipantHe can say whatever he wants however at the end of the day its meaningless. If he wants to be picky with who he signs with he will end up as a backup[ goalie. Most teams dont need a goalie. His options where he has a legit chance to be a starter are:
Philadelphia
Edmonton
Pittsburgh
Carolina
BuffaloBottom 3 are a stretch too.

ParticipantI appreciate Bill’s content, as always, but wow, I miss the discussion forums at his old blog spot.

ParticipantI don’t think I’ve purchased any flyers gear for myself since I was a kid in the 70s. I might have an old black Flyers tshirt, my kids gave me, in the back of my closet. I also have a Forsberg Flyers hat that a customer gave me.

Participantspeaking of cliff, spoke with him not too long ago, he will be back in the next month or so.
I’m assuming you’re talking about MJL. Why in a month or so? Is he hammering out a deal with Bill? I imagine he drives a lot of engagement for a blog site. Maybe he should be paid for his services?

ParticipantSeems weird (and a little insulting) to me that the Flyers are setting up for the draft in Atlantic City. Comcast is one of the largest telecom companies in the word. They are headquartered in Philadelphia and the team they own is in Philadelphia. Are other teams doing this? Why not setup at the stadium? Don’t they already have studios there?

ParticipantSpeaks volumes about how far the Flyers have fallen that we ask a question like this.
I shutter when I hear that a prospect “plays like a Flyer”. What does that mean anymore?

Participantlooks like a lot of excitement around here over this hiring

ParticipantI’m just relieved when it’s not something completely stupid.

ParticipantI hope the reason for Lappy leaving as coach isnt related to a health issue.
I have heard him say in recent interviews that he wants to be coaching in the NHL. In retrospect it seems an odd move to go from assistant coach in the NHL, for all those years, to coaching in the AHL. Do a lot of coaches take that route?

Therians biased view is already getting old. I bet if you go back and look at the last 3 press conf for AV, Torts, Tocchet they re virtually identical as to what was said by the flyers and the presI was thinking the same thing. He probably said the same things about Torts when he was hired. I’d like Bundy back on the Flyers broadcast. He was good doing color. I’m not crazy about his current hot takes persona.
