ParticipantA season is very long, effort is difficult to sustain but such a difference is such short time ?
3 PP/3 for Chicago, and even a last 5th goal (I thought it was an empty net one… no. 0/5 for Detroit ! 45 shots (!), 1 goal… and they are back home. Too tired from the trip ?
What is going on ?
Panic button is close this time.frenchtoto
ParticipantFollowing the Chicago game, I’m getting a bit mad : 3/3 pp for Chicago, 0/5 for Detroit ! 35 shots, 1 goal… how can you win a game like this ? I’m getting worried for the season now. If you cannot score on 35+ shots, it is a problem indeed. Grrr, I’m not even listening to the end, though for once it was early enough for me !
Danielson looking good, that’s the only positive thing for now.frenchtoto
ParticipantI loved Gibson’s reaction after Barbarshev tried to intimidate him after a shot : he smiled, seemed to say “do you think that will annoy me boy”, and then Larkin came to help ! Calmness, confidence.
The team looks solid but sometimes tired, (bending with the stick on the knees after the whistle) let’s hope the day off and Kane coming back will help for the next games. Rest, rest, rest…
Eager to follow the next game against Vegas at home, they will have to win it !frenchtoto
ParticipantWhat a goal by Raymond ! He has really high hockey IQ. I liked Seider’s reaction on his goal too, staying calm but happy (we can see on his face when he is not happy at all or not confident enough). Cat is playing well, so is Talbot. Larkin looked a bit frustrated because he’s be doing so well at the start of the season.
Kane not back yet is a bit of a concern, does anyone have any update ?
Once again, good points, everyone would have signed for that trip ! Let’s see how it will end against a really tough team.
Plus : are they going with Talbot again or are they keeping his energy for the season ? He seems to be more consistent than Gibson.
By the way, Leonard did a nice pre season, his name did’nt come unnoticed but soon forgotten by the start of the season. Now he looks like a player Yzerman could call up !frenchtoto
ParticipantHi again from overseas,
interesting to compare the numbers from last season at the same time, there is progress indeed even if defense still needs to get better. Is Ed playing well ? ASP is starting to learn the difficult part of the NHL, a bit slow on Terry’s goal (I thought he could skate well but maybe a bit tired on that shift), Hamonic not that bad and a quite good surprise from Chiarot (I’m always careful with this name because in french, “chariot” means a trolley and is almost the same spelling…)
Good surprise from GR, but with Gus and Holl, Leonard and two pretty good goalies, it is another team.
Detroit will need to rest and train to get all the little things back to work, but with the schedule, it is so difficult. They have to focus on the next game, but also see further away for the playoffs (so, good to let the young ones do mistakes… for now !)

ParticipantHi everyone,
an interesting trip coming up for Detroit ! I read somewhere that a 3 wins 2 losses would be very good. The results of this trip will be another curve to this long season.
Yzerman being in GR means indeed he has something planned. A bit disappointed for MBN but eager to see someone else come up and try to help AND stay for a long time (a young one would be better for the future). I hope it will not disturb GR winning.
A bit surprised to see Hamonic coming back, but it is nice to give him another chance to play.
Very surprised to see Kasper struggle so much, let’s hope Kane’s come back will help. But it is 2nd year and he was aware of that.
Interesting to see Gus helping the young ones in GR. What a good attitude as he could easily play for a lot of NHL teams this year and just shrug in GR.frenchtoto
ParticipantThe start of the game seems to have been good (10 shots to 0) and Gibson at last gives some confidence to the team.
You can see genuine happiness for ASP scoring his first, a lot of good signs for a winning team who will need to go on like this. You may have all the talent you want (they have), you will need to keep (or get it back quickly) confidence to stay consistent for a long season !
We will know more after the Christmas break or even the all star game, this will be the real test and of course, IF they go to playoffs, they will have to be rested and not injured.
But for now, they are doing the work and it is really enjoyable for every fan.frenchtoto

ParticipantNice to read you again !
The end of pre season was something to follow, just as exciting as a good season to come.
Rookies have been consistent (at least three of them, and Danielson) but what a surprise to see the roster.
I thought they would keep ASP in AHL for a while. Will he have enough minutes to get better ? Will Al J have enough minutes too ?
And I was not a big fan of MBN (still not my favorite) but I must say he has something special (a little Hull or Shanahan thing).
Let’s hope Finnie can last for a long season (where the games are more difficult than pre season, especially after february), he seems to slot in well and sure can skate (you have to, playing with Larks and Ray) !
A bit sorry for Lombardi and Mazur though, it will be interesting to have some news on them and Cossa in the AHL.frenchtoto
ParticipantA game to forget : defense was probably poor but Cossa was not there either. He’s going to another year in AHL. If he isn’t consistent, he can forget the big team. The problem for a young goalie compared with forwards is that one mistake=one goal. But Detroit isn’t the best place to become a good goalie. Some time ago, it was Montréal with Roy trained by Allaire. I think there are still teams where goalies get better even if the team wasn’t good (change goalies, still a good season) but I can’t remember where. Not in Detroit.
I can’t understand how you go from games 1 and 2 (40 shots) to this one : are they getting tired already ?
Of course, it is not the same players, not the same Buffalo team but strange enough to notice.
ASP played a lot (Todd testing him a lot, is it because he would like to see him play as soon as in the opening ?) and seems to get better. Line 2 is ready, but it will be nice to settle the other lines a bit so they know what the others are going to do on the ice.
Appleton, Ras and Copp seem to be a nice shutdown one. -
