One nice thing to see from this young team is getting points inspite of the refs on the ice.

Totally blown call. Lankinan is in the seated splits facing the half boards. He can only spin to his right or left while seated or snow angel while Bertuzzi is whacking at the puck. He chooses to rotate towards Bertuzzi allowing Bert to whack at the exposed puck. Ref must think Bertuzzi’s stick caused Lankinen’s rotation. Only way Bertuzzi could do that is if he whacked with a sledgehammer. Another tell-tale sign was after the puck went in Lankinen was trying to fish the puck out of the corner of the net. Goalies will be the first to tell you they were interfered with.

    Finally figured it out—–
Frank Nazar is ticket scalper Mike Damone from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Also, it looks like Lafferty is in the dog house already (or maybe he is injured?). He and Reichel are sitting due to the 7D lineup

I think one of the prior games he had maybe only 6 minutes of ice time but took 2 penalties in that short time.

And if Mikhelev keeps playing the way he does, I wouldn’t be able to trade him, i was so impressed with his effort and defensive play vs the Habs.

Agreed. Also might help out Kantserov if/when he gets here.

I didn’t see Vlasic on the ice in the 3rd, is he okay?

Pang and Ball said he was hurt on a play at the far boards. He waved towards the bench for a sub as he skated off. Hopefully it’s only for precautionary reasons.

All good points captain, however the Hawks have had issues exiting their zone for quite a few years now. They currently have a bit more mobile defense, maybe it will improve their breakouts, we shall see.

I agree. In years past d-men would just hold the puck waiting for things to happen and resort to a d to d pass or a “hoister”. These young guys are very mobile so why not use that to their advantage.

I just gotta say watching last night’s game Misiak reminds me a lot of Teuvo when he’s on the ice?

Reminds me of Michael Frolik, good forechecker. I’ve noticed a few times on the dump-ins, when the camera pans down to the other end Misiak is already closed to the other team’s d-man. Hopefully he continues to grow and eventually make it.

I remember watching a clip of a Blackhawks practice last season. The players were skating at a not so brisk speed during this drill, and I thought, ” Wow if you practice at this speed, no wonder some teams take advantage and hem the Hawks in their own zone for most of the game.” I saw a couple of clips from yesterday’s practice, and the tempo was much faster. I’m glad Blashill and staff has the team skating faster and harder from the get-go. It’ll be a higher bar for the standard of practices that these younger players will get accustomed to.

+ (3) out of this group of Grizelda and 6 youngsters (Lev, Del Mastro, Korchinski, Allan, Crevier, Harding) <<<< all (6) here are waivers exempt

Crevier is no longer waiver exempt. Serves well as a 7th D-man.
