so each of our groups is a different server? like mutants is a different server than football?
No those are channels on a server.
Think of it like this… each house on a street is a server, so you get access to a specific house / server.
Each house has rooms – or in this case channels, such as general dead-pool-2025 – and if you have access to the house you likely have access to all the channels in that house (unless someone placed restrictions on some channels for whatever reason, but that is another issue.).
So
server = house
Channels = rooms in that houseit won’t let you talk with us too?

I tried to join back then but problem is already have it on my phone for the poker gang ( and well close friends) and you can’t have 2 accounts apprantly
You can join as many servers as you want, and while in any server, you can change your nickname to whatever you want for that server only.
You login name will be seen if people look at your profile or DM you.

Right click on a person’s name and click message… private DM thread.
I mostly use discord for gaming, but I do most of quick my family communication there, especially to my nephews, who game a lot too.
You can make DM groups, etc.. we used this to group chat when my nephew was going through cancer treatments.
those things aren’t stupid. you’re keeping in touch with people you care about. that’s important!
people make the internet a shitty place. people will ruin anything. but you’re using it for good!
i made an email address and was giving it out to people i wanted to stay in touch with when HB started looking like it was going under and this site wasn’t here yet. but now there’s no PMs so it’s only a few people.
The discord is a good catch all place, can DM there too.

I am not very good at keeping in touch with people that are not in my immediate/daily sphere, so I have devised all these stupid little things I do every once and a while, just to touch base and say hello.
Like I play on-line scabble once a week during the day with someone that moved to south korea (usually takes multiple days to finish because of time zones) , etc.. .etc.. etc.. got a bunch of these dumb check-in things.
The internet is a shit place, but it can be a good place, too.
