ParticipantWhat is there to say? Slow in the 1st (highest goal differential in the NHL in the 1st period), wild 2d – at least the PP clicked, collapse in the 3d.
We can’t continually come back from a deficit. We can’t hold a lead. CBJ swarmed the net for the tying goal, no one took a body and we looked like the Keystone Cops. Cost us the game and a point we need desperately.
Mo’s looking really good, and frankly needs to be in the Norris conversation. Chiarot’s playing his best hockey ever. But if we have to reply on Eddy and Chiarot (Mo’s a given perfirmer), we’re in really gad shape defensively. You can see there’s some form of team D scheme, but we don’t have the talent to execute it routinely.
If we want to make the SCPO, or even retain some levwl of respectability, we need to pull the trigger on a major move. Hughes should be the target. But there’s other names out there. Shake this team up.
This is getting embarrassing.

ParticipantGood day, Jeremy and fans!!
The W vs BOS was ok, but there are cracks showing in this team; Defense is a sieve, we lack speed, and our G is abysmal. YES, it’s nice to have the win, cannot argue that (really nice to see 2 Bruins sent off as well….), but watching the final 1/2 of the 3d period worried that we can’t shut it down isn’t sustainable. Something has to give.
LOTS of chatter about Hughes, some of it says we’re in the mix, but at what cost? Seeing offers such as a 1st, high-end current roster player, and high-end prospect. Some have stated the discussion would begin with ASP and end w/MBN. What’s the price to pay? We cannot continue the rebuild/complete it with what we have in the pipeline. Cossa will probably be called up this year, and he may well stay. That will help, but it won’t if our D continues to give out free passes to the net.
Some are going to flip their lids on this, but I’d offer that ASP may be the price to pay for a Superstar player this team is in such desperate need of. We can’t even remotely out-score our shoddy defense and have to score 4 to win each game – that’s just not a sustainable model for SCF eligibility. Frankly, Hughes makes this team exponentially better, if not a viable SCPO-bound club.
How long do we wait, and exactly who are we willing to give up to take the next step? If not Hughes, who else do we go after that raises the bar and makes this a viable SCPO-bound club?

ParticipantThe way we’ve played…….WAIT…..
Wishing ALL of you a warm, Family and friend-filled Thanksgiving. There’s much to be thankful for, but….PLEASE remember those who Serve across the globe, away from Family and loved ones. I know the melancholy they feel – please be Thankful for them and more importantly; their Families.
Now, the way we’ve played is just crappy. Blindingly awesome one day, total trash the next. There are sooo many holes on this team. Our D is atrocious. There’s no consistency across the ice. I’ve seen Mo look like a rookie, Chiarot’s been (I CANNOT believe I’m going to say this), the most-steady and reliable. HOWEVER, I truly think Mo’s playing injured from several weeks ago when he was sent into the boards. The guy does NOT quit.
GRG, man that team is STACKED. For a couple of years, there’s been constant deference to GRG and what’s in the pipeline; I think we can see just what the future portends for the Big Club; we just have to weather the storm. And thankfully the East is so tight that even if we crap out, we could still sneak into the SCPO – not that that’s the panacea, BUT……
I know this team is better than they show, we just need to come out hard and stay nasty for 60min, boot-to-the-throat nasty. I still believe that we can pull the trigger on a move or 2 and change the entire complexion of this team. But I REFUSE to part with MBN, or Kasper, or ASP…..they ARE our foundation and it shows. Now, if we could land McD…….I might have to go into the Witless Protection Program 😉 because I’d dump a big name. Regardless…..
There are always peaks and valleys, lads. ‘A man’s true character is how he reacts in the face of adversity’. Time to show our true character….
Again, wishing you ALL a Happy Thanksgiving and a heart-felt THANK YOU to those who serve, their Families, and my fellow Veteran’s; your sacrifices are truly appreciated and YOU are why we are free to celebrate this humbling day.

ParticipantThis was absolutely abysmal to watch. I was stunned….and, frankly, pissed. There’s no excuse for this kind of collapse… Eddy played THE worst game of his NHL time. Watching him allow Thompson destroy The Cat….he should be embarrassed. We need D help. Not sure if Stetcher fell to us, but he would’ve been a decent get. JBD needs to have more ice time because Hamonic has shown his age….He can play ok at times. But he’s just not there anymore.
Thankfully, we pulled it off vs NYR. And the ‘brawl’ after the game was awesome. But again, in this game, we played like we CAN. The game management and consistency need to be worked on because it’s going to blow our chances at the SCPO. Good game. Nice come-back.

ParticipantBuddy, great feedback. I’d ex0ected us to get the wood laid to our butts by VGK, but we played an entirely defensive game, and peppered the VGK G like a prime steak ready for grillin’.
I like what I see with the guys, overall. There are a couple of guys who have established themselves as trade-bait (Ras, Gus…), but when every Bergy’s hammering opposing Fs along the boards, there’s something special brewin’ in HockeyTown. What I’m really impressed with is how easily both Finnie & ASP have assimilated into the Big Club. I freakin’ love Eddy/Mo as 1D. I’d like to see ASP & JBD as a pairing, but they both need a bit more veteran presence to help them along at this point…..but not for much longer. And frankly, Gibby & Talbot have really been solid. Not stellar; solid.
The GRG are absolutely housing the ‘A’. Absolutely stunning. From what I can tell, the Big Club is loaded for bear in a few years. What I really like is our G set-up. Postava’s forcing Cossa to up his game, and they’re both looking over their shoulders at Augy. The trick here, I believe, is keeping Augy. Losing him would seriously set us back a while, and Lord knows we need a brick wall in net or we’re going to be stuck in ‘rebuild’ mode for another decade….
Really great road trip. Happy for only losing 2 games, and both were much better games than most people thought. We just need to keep a steady pace and continue to let the kids germinate. And yes; Danielson and Leonard are going to be solid call-ups.

ParticipantGood game in the aggregate, but the defensive lapses keep biting us in the rump. There was no reason for this game to have gone into OT. Reading that we’re connected to Troy Stecher….. I don’t hate that. I do think we’d have been well-served to have retained Ollie Maatta. He was solid, and defensive-minded. Of course retaining Jake Walman would’ve been smart as well but there was something that The Captain didn’t lile about him, I guess – that’s still a very murky move, if you ask me. Regardless, we need to shore up defensively. I’ll actually compliment Copp because he’s playing a much improved defensive game.
This team just needs a comprehensive defensive scheme. Yawney’s a smart guy and have helped re-invigorate the defense, but our F corps needs to get more on board with shutting down opposing teams. I’ve a feeling that VGK will absolutely dissect defensive lapses and excoriate us if given the chance. We can’t afford to have to come from behind, and that starts with a comprehensive defense across the on-ice skaters….

ParticipantHey, Jeremy. Good read and definitely invigorating to see the GRG team doing so well.
I’m not overly concerned about MBN’s showing with the Big Club. He’s had some exposure to what areas of his game need love & attention. He played well, bit it felt like he needed to slow his gsme down, which he wasn’t doing. No doubt he’s got a list of areas of concern. Once he polishes his game, he’ll be a contributor without a doubt. He’s got great speed, hits are measured to extract the most benefit, and he does have a great shot. It’s just a matter of time and he’ll be up to stay.
GRG has such a deep pool of talent. Watson’s done some awesome work on the kids, and the future is no doubt very bright. Now, I don’t think we can turn this team around merely with kids from the ‘A’, We will need to pull in a big name or 2 from either a block-buster trade or jump in the deep end in UFA.
Will be interesting to see how we react to the LAK loss. We were just out-classed by a deep LAK team, those guys are for real. We’ll get there, I’ve no doubt. But the waiting’s getting tedious!!!

ParticipantGreat game tonight….after the first 15min or so….and even then, yikes.
MBN needs time. He was impressive in pre-season, but fell off a bit in the regular season. I’m not worried about it; kid’s shown he has the chops to play & stay in the Big Leagues.
Looking forward to the write-up!!!

ParticipantHey, Jeremy ????
Last night was a revelation. We fans knew rhe future was good, but some names really jumped out last night. I only watched pieces n parts, unfortunately. But watching your re-cap and watching these kids….wow. GR is going to be a fun team to watch! Watson’s gonna have a seriously strong team….until the call-ups hit.
MBN was tough. Watched some of the game and saw him really assert himself down low, and his defensive stick-work was sublime. Kid has a gift. ASP looks a bit bigger this year. The way he moves to puck is almost zen-like. Seriously, his passing is incredible. But the big take away for me was Lombardi and Buium. We all rave over ASP, MBN, LMNOP (????), but those 2…..if either of them are called up, I’d not be surprised in the least to see them pull an Eddy and stay up. Buium’s bigger than I thought, and definitely more aggressive. Lombardi’s really got something special, a great mixture of talent and grit… and can pass like a Sailor on Shore Leave ????????.
Excited to see how tonight goes. I feel better now about the direction of this team, but we still need a NAME. THE guy who just takes the game over…..
