Pure Evil sniping by Bedard last night.
Hawks on pace for 98 points.
Bedard is also on pace for 98 points.

Yeah, that should have been offside.
However, when assessing the team and how it is progressing, it was horrific that they allowed an opponent to get loose like that.
A 4-0 lead had quickly dropped to 4-2, no excuse for a guy getting behind the entire team.
No matter if offside was called, or if Knight had made a great save, the mistake was glaring and should never have happened.

It’s amazing how bad these 2nd periods have been.
The team was much more poised and mature in the 3rd period, like they flipped a switch.

Why can’t they play the 2nd period like they play the 3rd?
Maybe not Cup Champion quality, but sooooooo much more responsible and mature in their play.

They are wetting the bed yet again.
    Terrible 2nd period team.

Hopefully they can get their sh!t together.

Agree that Lev should be playing top, difficult AHL minutes, not sheltered NHL minutes.
There’s no reason he can’t be moved up and down. Even Hammer was only a part time NHLer in his 20 and 21 year old seasons.
Nothing wrong with rewarding AHL youngsters with a stint in the NHL when they have played well. Good way to identify strengths/weaknesses.
Also: today is Lev’s final day as a teenager.

Kaiser being a 3rd liner is an interesting point.
From the end of the Cup era, he would obviously not crack the top 4 of Keith/Hammer/Seabrook/Oduya.
However, he might already be better than the 3rd pairing guys of that era. (except maybe Leddy was on the 3rd pairing?)
Were any of Brookbank, Cumiskey, Rundblad, Timmonen, TVR, etc. better than Kaiser?
So, he might rank in-between the 2nd and 3rd pairings from the later BH Cup years.

Lastly, if Mikheyev and Bertuzzi are out, without a callup they would have to use 11/7 Tuesday vs Ottawa.
It’s been fine so far but doing it with 2 regulars out (one who is a top PK guy) seems like a mistake to me.
Especially since one of the 11F is Lafferty, who has been healthy scratched most of the time.

It’s like they send a different team out there in the 2nd.

neat but meaningless stat from X:
The LA Kings are the first team in NHL history to have 9 points in their first 9 games but have 0 regulation wins.

from Zach Dooley: (no morning skate before a back-to-back so this is from last night)
    Kuzmenko – Kopitar – Kempe
    Fiala – Byfield – Laferriere
    Foegele – Danault – Moore
    Armia – Turcotte – Perry

    Dumoulin – Doughty
    Edmundson – Clarke
    Anderson – Ceci

    Kuemper
    Forsberg

Raise your hand if you had Utah and NJ as the NHL points percentage leaders on October 26th.

    Yeah I know it’s early.
Yeah I know the Hawks are doing really well also.

The Hawks had 3 days off before Thursday’s game.
Then, 2 days off before today against the Kings.

Soderblom has not played in 11 days. Hopefully he is rested-not-rusty.
It will be interesting to see how the team plays in front of him.

    From Scott Powers’ article today:
“Hawks are allowing, on average, more shot attempts, more shots on goal, more scoring chances and more high-danger chances than they did last season.

    Also,
    overall:
defensive zone percentage 43.8 ranks 31st
offensive zone percentage 38.3 ranks 32nd

    at even strength:
defensive zone percentage 42.8 ranks 28th
offensive zone percentage 38.7 ranks 29th

and yes, it’s crazy how much they want for hats now. 10 years ago a nice hat was $25. now they’re double that.

Just scored this fitted beauty on eBay for $23.50 incl shipping.
Hammerin’ Hank with the home run record !
