bah, it does suck how it ended but at least he didn’t pull a Patrick Roy by playing for another NHL team and winning a championship there lol.
He could have refused to waive his NMC and claim he didn’t want to be rental and wanted to retire with his current team.
Only to wait until halfway through the next year to sign with another team then justified it by saying the new team gave him the best chance to win.
