More than just this year for Dubas. Our 4th line are all his doing previously and many nights are the best 4th line in the league. Braz and Mantha have exceeded any realistic expectations already. Clifton has looked real solid as well. I like the kid we just got from Columbus so far too.

As far as the “it” factor, I put a lot of that on Muse. Complete culture change. Unlike the guy who’s currently leading the Rags to the lottery, Muse plays ALL his players(including rookies) all game. Last night the TOI difference between the 1 and 12 forwards for the Pens was 3.5 minutes. Rusty was the only one to break 17 minutes and Acciari was last at 13.5 minutes. Entire team seems just more engaged. 65 and 71 looked like they couldn’t give a crap last year and both have looked like the All Stars they were a few years ago this season. Shea has been with us for years…never looked like much of anything, but has probably been our steadiest D man so far.

And I don’t know about anyone else, but I am enjoying the team much more than I have in years. Even the stretch where we were choking leads late, we were still playing decent hockey. I’ve only turned off 2 games early all season, where last year that was an average week. I’ve even gone back to yelling at the tv during games lol.

Not only a great trade, but Dubas got it done at the optimal time before Jarry reverted back to the guy who needed to be sent to WBS multiple times.

When you have a Coner Sheary in your top six, your team is very flawed!!!

Valid statement today, but historically not true. He played mostly top 6 minutes on back to back Cup winners despite falling down for no reason at least once a period.

Please no shootout today with Silovs in.

Just saw a stay silovs has faced 8 shoot outs attempts and 1 penalty shot. Shooters are 8 for 9. Yikes.

Yup, explains why he was so available. Was wondering today after OT…are teams still allowed to use either goalie in the SO, or has that changed? If so, might be time to start thinking about that going forward.

I gotta say… Those experts who said Kindel can’t skate look like fools. He’s not Mackinnon or anything, but he’s plenty fast enough.

His hockey IQ and vision more than make up for the half step of speed he may be lacking. He’s probably the smartest teen I’ve seen since…his current linemate.

I’m here Pags66. Way to F us like that hahaha

Pens played a perfect f’n game of hockey for 40 mins. Sucks to lose that one but I do think this team has a different feel to it, for sure, and they will learn from this. Jarry had to save a few of those. If he does, Pens win.

Not my fault tonight, I refrained from posting a damn thing after last game haha.

Spoke too soon. The Pens from last season showed up.

Yeah, I jinxed the hell out of that. Just glad Matt’s not around to yell at me for it lol.

Despite the horrible 3rd period, still came away with one small positive…the absolute attitude adjustment. For way too many years in games like that needed a goal in the 3rd it was:
Sully “you kids might as well hit the showers now because you ain’t sniffing the ice again tonight”

    Now it’s:
Muse “you kids keep taking your regular shifts and in fact, let’s double shift the 18 year old with Sid or Geno and send him out there when we pull the goalie”.

I wish Grinder was here to tell me why Ben Kindel sucks.

Lol…just reuse any of the plethora of reasons why Geno or Jake suck.

I’m overjoyed to admit I was dead f’n wrong about that pick. Whoever scouted Kindel and talked us into taking him absolutely nailed it. Kid is gonna be special.

Anyone else feel like we’re playing last year’s Pens in Blue jerseys tonight. Man the Leafs look dead and buried.

After the end of OT helmet pull I revise my previous post…Zegras is just a pathetic pussy. Pull off Acciari’s lid and run like hell behind the linesman.

Also, one of the most bizarre OT’s I’ve ever seen.

Zegras really is a sensitive little bitch, isn’t he. Should change his name to Xavier Laflamme.

9 games in and my biggest question is…can we dress Witherspoon in an 81 jersey and send him the hell back to juniors and keep Kindel?

I really hope both stick this year. Most times salary cap concerns dictate teens staying or going back to juniors. With the cap going up substantially and the big 3 plus most likely EK being gone soon, I don’t see us having any issues there. Both(especially Kindel) have looked damn good so far, and other than the 2nd Rags game, we’ve been playing decent hockey so I think they benefit a lot more from staying and learning from the old guys before they’re gone.

I have to laugh… Sheary on the top line is soooooo Sully. He tortured us in Pittsburgh with Sheary in the top 6.

Sheary on the first line is definitely 100% Sully. At least they have an improved version of Sheary. Times I’ve seen him the past few seasons, he has at least stopped falling down for no apparent reason 3 times per game.

Enjoyable game from start to finish. Unlike the past few seasons, at no point was I waiting for the inevitable choke and loss. 81 More like that winning close to half and I think it would be a successful season.

Still not sold on the pick, but Kindel definitely has a high hockey IQ. If he puts in the work on his skating, we might have something there. 2nd line looked great, although they didn’t have to do much back checking.

And I almost feel bad for Rags fans…tonight they will experience their inaugural “I thought we played well, just have to get to our game” presser. Hopefully one of many lol.
