It more than likely didn’t’t help but Benning only offered him a three year contract because of his habits and attitude. When he held out and spent time in LA and doing events with Hughes it was the first sign of going backwards. Woman and alcohol have ruined more athletes than any other cause. He is a huge cause of the demise of this team. I think even if he does come in prepared and in shape his skating is slow now so I am not expecting much. 45 to 55 points I am guessing.
I think he has the right to be angry about the toxic market. It has been front and centre for years now alongs side with shitty management for the last 13-14 years. Can’t just sweep it under the carpet and be a rah rah guy like most Vancouver fans. They deserve to have their asses kicked it is well earned.
I can actually see this coming together. Two local boys that grew up Canuck fans that are as frustrated as every other Canuck fan. I could see them already discussing behind the scenes saying Let’s do this.Dupont Celebtini and Bedard. Seriously I can see this happening well two of them.Even if that jackass clown Aquilini is still running the show I think they would do it for the city and fans they love.
Imagine if he had 4 mil extra to sign Toffoli and Tanev instead of paying the Luongo cap re-capture penalty. Yes it was legal at the time of the signing but the Gillis arrogance made the NHL make sure there was a message sent to MG. Maybe then JB would have not needed more time if he had the cap space.
Benning was terrible PA even worse but it all started with the incompetence and arrogance of Gillis.

I don’t buy that. Gillis started the chaos. He emptied the cupboards and gave NMC and NTCs to aging players. Remember the Kesler trade where Benning had one team to deal with only. Bieksa Hamhuis.
Then Gillis realized holy shit this team is slow and old . The blame starts with him and snowballed as each mgmt group got worse as time went on. PA and JR are the worst mgmt group ever. Not even close.
Canucks have had the worst management and ownership for over a decade now.Even dating back to Gillis. Even though he took them to game 7 he collapsed the future. His drafting was terrible, he left the shelves empty, he handcuffed the team with full NTCs and NMCs
Time to admits this team aside from a few bright moments have been a train wreck and the ownership through it’s entire existence has stunk.
Maybe a reset and going back to square one with the Sedins and RJ will change things but with an owner that pays its GM less than a JapaDog cart vendor I am not really expecting much. I think FA is just putting lipstick on a pig.
