With the new cap rules of teams having to be cap compliant for the playoffs, and there is no proration of salaries for players traded, it will be interesting to see how many of the overpaid vets KD is going to be able to move.

He has 2 retention spots available, and 4 overpaid vets going UFA (Murphy, Foligno, Dickinson, Mikhayev)

Gryzlek probably has the most value, as he is only getting paid $1 million.

Conversely the Hawks will be approx $30 million under the cap next season minus whatever deal Bedard signs. The remaining UFA’s left (Panarin,
Is probably the top) are pedestrian at best. Does KD go the offer sheet (or trade) using his draft capital for a Jason Robertson, Cole Perfetti, Dylan Holloway), or does he fill out the roster with a TT, Bertuzzi type like an Oliver Bjorkstrand.

On the bright side of tonight’s game, the Kid line was the best line tonight.

Although the team record doesn’t show it, IMO Kaiser has been fantastic, and has been the best overall D on the team.

Hey LA, strongly agree with you about Kaiser. He moves the puck well and surprising often wins the puck in board battles.

I think we’ll be getting an unwanted player that a contender moves to obtain a better player like a Hamilton. On the Hawks, like Burakowsky, that player will be an upgrade.

Wow its like getting the band together with Stevefromglencoe and LA chiming in.

I’d like the Hawks to try to acquire Quinn too. None of Leyshunov, KK, Rinzel are guaranteed to turn out to be stars even if some flashes of it. We get Quinn for his years 26 and 27. Not sure we can resign him but a good run his last year could increase resigning here. We have two firsts next year, some good prospect D’s and young talent down the middle. I do think it’ll cost us one of Nazar or Moore, but to get a Dman of Quinn’s ability in his early prime doesn’t come often. Moore is playing much stronger and is looking much better, much more (drum roll) than just being fast. Nazar seemed gasped in the 2-game blowout stretch but his speed and skills haven’t even fully developed yet. He should come back even better next year. This is all EA Sports type trades but exciting.

We’d need a guarantee Quinn would resign/extend though. He appears wanting to go East coast which is against our odds.

I find the 3-on-3 extremely exciting. Make it a 10 minute period!

Tough loss but happy we got a point. This team is so much more entertaining to watch. We had Game 7 on the big screen and I was watching this on the iPhone. Like Bedard’s play this year he’s generating a ton of offense. No doubt having a second scoring line has taken the pressure off of his line.

For a team winning depending on higher shooting percentage and great goaltending, losing 2 top forwards in Bertuzzi and Mikheyev is going to be tough. I think this was demonstrated in the second period onward after Mikheyev went down. The third period had few chances. Let’s see how tonight’s game goes but I don’t see us scoring more than 2-3 goals. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Boy, DelMastro is taking his lumps and tangled foots…

Totally agree on that one, Wiz. Looking forward to Vlasic coming back or giving Allen a shot.

No comments about the game? I still am cableless and watch the games via the App on my iPhone. The Detroit goals came when I was eating dinner so didn’t see their quality. The Hawks looked decent offensively but couldn’t capitalize on chances- especially the PP. Good puck movement though.

Hey Metal, that is true. I was getting ahead of the times here. They are the future but against similar group of prospects, disappointing.

Good to see familiar faces here. Hopefully Paul, Mo, LA and Wiz will join. Hopefully Blaishill will get the D shored up as 43 shots against a JV Wings team is not good especially since we were fielding 6 NHL-ready D men. They need to keep the crease clear and forwards need to come back and get their man as it seems like a lot of secondary chances.
