ParticipantWoll! Get this guy some support!!
PrinceLH
ParticipantDamn….that weekend went too damned fast!
PrinceLH
ParticipantWoll has shown he’s on his game. He’s kept us in. There should be no discussion about him being the weak link. I like Benoit’s game. A couple of those hits were crushing. The Leafs need to keep their composure and wait for their opportunity to tie it up. The second line must be rested. They only played about 4 minutes.
PrinceLH
ParticipantThe Leafs need to get this one in the win column because a 7 game series with the Panthers will take the starch out of them. The Panthers have already lost 2 games and at a minimum will need a 6 game series to get to the next round. Carolina looks like they’ve got the upper hand on Washington, so rest may become an issue for the winner of this series. The Leafs could do themselves a real favour by winning tonight.

ParticipantI’m thinking that Dallas is the team to beat in the West. They seem to have all of the pieces required. Rantanen is on a mission. Winnipeg could up end them, but they haven’t won on the road yet.
PrinceLH
ParticipantMatthews is injured for sure.
My concern is that he seems to be injured a lot of the time but only sits out a little bit of time here and there. Gotta think its either something chronic that is NOT fixable or he has a lot of different injuries a lot of the time. Both are concerning for me.
I’m thinking that it’ll be corrected after the season ends. I can see him missing part of next season while he heals. He probably believes that this is his best chance to win the Cup with Marner still on the team.
PrinceLH
ParticipantHe can’t shoot the puck. There’s no velocity. There’s no way he’s not injured. Whatever the case he still needs to find a way to score.
I seem to agree. There isn’t that zip and velocity. It used to go in the net in a blink of an eye. He’s injured, just not enough to be out of the lineup.
PrinceLH
ParticipantHe was hurt. I think it’s just a convenient excuse now.
Time will tell. It won’t be known until the Leafs playoff run ends.

ParticipantI’m curious about what’s going on with Matthews. My theory is this: He’s got a shoulder injury that’s affecting his shoulder mobility. It’s really causing his shooting accuracy to be off. Other than that, everything else works. When he went to Germany, they probably told him; you can continue to play but your shoulder issues will be an issue for the rest of the season. You can still play well defensively, but there’ll be a slight weakness to shoot. He was probably given a choice; shut it down and do surgery immediately, but your season will be over and you’ll need months of rehab. The other option was to play with what you’ve got, mobility-wise, and contribute defensively and still pick up some goals and assists. He chose to take the shot at winning it all this year, with the cast of players that the Leafs currently have. Knowing that Marner would probably be either moved, or leave as a UFA, he chose to try for the Cup.
It’s obvious that he’s not shooting the puck with accuracy and zip. He can still turn his wrists over to take faceoffs and make passes. As a betting man, I’d think that it’s something of this magnitude.

ParticipantThis series wasn’t supposed to be short. It’s the damned Cup champs. It could have went either way. Let’s just get them in the next game. We still have Stolarz waiting back in Toronto.
PrinceLH
ParticipantIt is what it is.
PrinceLH
ParticipantFuck!
PrinceLH
ParticipantWilly hasn’t scored yet tonight…..he’s due!
PrinceLH
ParticipantOvertime was inevitable….before the game even started. All of these games have been one goal games. It seems to be the script that the Leafs have been following the whole playoffs.
PrinceLH
ParticipantThis game is winnable. We knew the defending champs wouldn’t go out without a fight.
Get the equalizer. Put a ton of traffic in front of Bob and get rebounds. Stop being cute.
I agree. Just get the next goal and get it to overtime.
