    Reinbacher -Monsieurchicken

I also think Reinbacher will have every chance to make the team next season. From what I’ve seen in Laval, he’s been very good but if you pair him up with a Xhekaj or Struble on the other side, I’m not convinced it gives you a reliable pairing from the get go.

If the right veteran player is available at a cost Montreal can afford to pay, I’m convinced Kent Hughes will highly consider it.

How can we even quote in here? Hello, rock fan from jersey who likes to bet from time to time! -Monsieur Chicken

Right now, you need to copy/paste the comment you want to quote and use the “B-quote” tool on it.

It’s not ideal but it will surely improve over time.

tks Hugo! and congrats on your new gig.
the only dman on your list I see wearing the bleu blanc rouge is Anderson.
Dobson would be nice no doubt, but I cannot see MTL having two 10M dmen.
Parayko could also be an option if available.

    – Fidopro

I’m not convinced the Habs can afford to trade for Parayko as it would be costly and he turns 33 already next season.

By the time we become competitive, he’ll already have slowed down and carry a 6.5M pricetag until he’s 37.

Andersson is definetely the prime target for me, and, I cannot belive I’m saying this, I think Ceci might be a decent consolation prize if he doesn’t cost too much.

I’ve said this recently, and I believe it – I don’t think you replace Marner. The point here is that this is a team that loses too many 50/50 battles for pucks. They lose on the boards. Those lose in front of their net. They lose in front of the opposition’s net. The DNA here, in my opinion, is that there’s too much soft and not enough compete.

Now if I had my way we’d be moving on from Marner, Robertson, Jarnkrok, Kampf and Patches. If they could get Rielly to waive, I’d do that, too – but replacing him would be difficult, because no matter how lousy he is at defense, you still need some puck movement and skating up the ice.

The guys *I’d* want to target are Bennett, Marchand, Suter, Tanev; I’d see it as Knies-Matthews-Domi; Tavares/Marchand-Bennett-Nylander; Tavares/Marchand-Suter-McMann; Lorentz-Laughton-Tanev. There’s still pop in the top-6, but you add compete and more 50/50 puck battles won and the bottom-6 gains some offensive traction on the 3rd line with defensive awareness and lots of puck battle in that mix. There are a lot of names in the bottom-6 mix which can help a team – Smith is a favourite of mine; I like Roslovic and I appreciate the speed of Mangiapane or Granlund. There are ways to remake parts of this team in ways that compliment the key pieces. Marchand is a guy that I would absolutely target because you need a voice that knows how to win and what it takes to win and can still lead by example. He’d be my #1 target if I were Treliving.

Does that change the “DNA”? I don’t know – but they need less passivity, and they’re just carrying too much of it with both Mitch and Willy.

Marchand on the Leafs…. Are you trying to make me hate the Leafs more?

    Just not TOO many people.

If this place is to grow, we can’t be too picky.

As long as moderators handle things, more users is always a good thing for a community/site.

You had Zezel sold at decent D.

Wish that guy would smarten up and join us.

    Give it time.

Improving the forums here would also help convince more people to come along for the ride.

This is going to be interesting to watch.

The guy is 37 years old, and hasn’t played since 2022-23 – and didn’t put up great numbers (although he was battling multiple ailments).

I think this is a classic case of hoping you get the guy from 10 years ago – and you will end up terribly disappointed.

Someone will give him a deal with a small base salary attached to plenty of bonuses.

Hell, if the Habs strikeout with other options to fill their centre line, they could easily consider him.

Duchene will stay in Dallas IMO and Nelson is on the wrong side of time, again imo.
Ehlers and Bennett will be around 8M each to sign me thinks. Could be do able.

I’m not saying he’s worth that much.

But I think a team will go overboard and offer close to 10M for Sam Bennett.

With the cap going up, some GMs will go completely insane with spending this summer.

noice. I guess you won’t be writing anymore on HB..?

    I don’t intend to, no.

I think I did my part trying to keep our little thread alive but the main point about it was to keep it fun.

It’s fairly obvious the man in charge doesn’t care or might actually prefer if I stopped so someone else can step in so I’ll try to have my fun elsewhere (here) instead. 🙂

I will try to write my first blog here this weekend.

Never had to use WordPress to do them before so I don’t know how it will turn out but should be fun.

Change the DNA is get rid of Rielly, the stripped captain and most of the bottom-six. UG

For what it’s worth Lebrun reported that Rielly/Leafs told him that Rielly will be back …will not waive NMC.

DNA/Change is really down to two options …..don’t re-sign Marner or re-sign Marner and trade Nylander. One of them is moving on and frankly, with all the talking heads reporting that Marner told Tree last summer he wasn’t talking contract until the end of the season, I have to believe he’s gone.

    Knies-Matthews-PKane
    Ehlers-Bennett-Bystander
    McMann-Tavares-Domi
    Big 4th line …..

The math could work. Kane and Tavares do 1 yr deals. Leafs have a bunch of room next summer. If Bennett stays in Florida ….maybe it’s Duchene or Nelson.

    Love that player.

Tre was asked today -“Can you say for certain that MM and JT will be offered contracts.” His answer was No

Also banned from the other site for comparing HB to the Leafs and only caring about profit..lol..

Comparing them to the Leafs. You didn’t have to go THAT far. 😉
