ParticipantRumors of Montreal interested in Kadri.
Don’t hate the idea but I do hate that player…..

ParticipantWould you be in favor of the team with the best record after 41 games be given an automatic playoff spot? And the same for the team with the best record from game 42-82?
Not really, this isn’t two 41 games season, it’s an 82 games season. What would be the point of the remaining 41 games for the team clinching in Decembre? Why would anyone pay to watch those games?
But I appreciate the “out of the box” thinking there.

ParticipantWell as a fan of a team looking to lift the Octocup, I think it’s pretty nice to be on top of the standings while it lasts.

ParticipantWhen we do well in October, opposition fans tell us that October games are not important.
And then when we are meh in October, youse guys tell us we should panic.
Leafs fans just can’t win (yeah, go ahead, I just teed it up for you).
You know what Wedgie old pal, I’m gonna show restraint and respect here and not send that ball out of the park.
I’m no Springer after all.

I’d probably watch more baseball if Bender was reffing every game.
It would probably involve more blackjacks and hookers too.

ParticipantI expected more heat on the Leafs for their lackluster beginning of the season. Guess everyone’s watching baseball?

ParticipantI think the whole process has been fun to watch. You look at young players, make projections, watch them grow together…
The only season that was absolutely unwatchable was the Dominic Ducharme year in 2021-2022. The man managed to use Caufield in a way that had him score ONE goal in half a season. ONE!

ParticipantYou go with the hot goalie, right?
If Monty was on a heater, you’d stick with him (unless it is B2B).
Dobes playing well is just a really good thing for the Habs – he game looks a lot better than last year, not as panicked, not out of position as often, using his size.
I did not expect to see this level of improvement this quick.
Dobes does look calmer in his net while maintaining his high compete level and intensity, which is great to see. And it makes sense that he’d be more prepared after a first taste of NHL hockey last season.
He’s also 24 years old, which means he’s slowly coming into his best years as a goaltender. I really am psyched to see how good he can become moving forward.

Participantdamn, that would be a long time without playing though for Monty, they only have 2 games this week.
Yes and of course Montembeault, as a competitor, most likely wants another shot as soon as possible…. but right now I’m going with the goaltender playing at an elite level because every point you can get is important.

ParticipantIf if was up to me, he sure as hell would. And if he plays well, he’d start next saturday as well.
I know we haven’t been used to this in Montreal but having two goaltenders playing tandem usually implies riding the hot hand that will most likely change over the course of the season.

ParticipantStill waiting for that meme Mash.

ParticipantI’m sorry Mash, but I agree that being sometimes good and sometimes bad is pretty much the definition of an average NHL goalie. The consistantly good ones are amongst the best there are.
Montembeault needs to be better, he can be better (he showed it in the past despite playing for defensively challenged teams) and we’ll need him to be better during the season.
Until then, I’ll be cheering for our boy “Dobby” to keep dominating. If he ends up getting the most starts because he plays better, I see this as an absolute win for Montreal because we’ll have two young goaltenders we can rely on moving forward with Dobes and Fowler.
Monty is likely gone once his contract expires if everything goes perfectly.
