Thanks for the post game recap. I thought it was a good game as well, just need to stay out of the box. It will be interesting to see who they keep with the big club. I like what KD has done, however I don’t understand the Lafferty acquisition, unless they just want Moore/Greene to get more time in Rockford. In my opinion they are both ready and would love to see them on a line with Mikheyev.

Just came across your post. I’m a Blackhawk fan that lives in Florida with an Illinois area code, I have no issues streaming Blackhawk games on ESPN, except when they play the Florida teams, then I’m blacked out. It depends where you live, must live out of Red Wings blackout area. That’s all the help a BH fan can give a RW fan, I won’t even buy Little Caesars pizza. ?

Had to comment to see updated posts. If Reichel is traded, I hope it’s in a packaged deal. I’d hate to see him go for a 5th round pick.

    How did Gryz look yesterday?

To be honest, I never noticed him.

If you don’t notice Grzelcyk, that’s a good thing, because I’m not a fan of his defensive game.

Substitute Mikheyev, Dach, and Reichel for Lardis, Savoiee, and Spellacy and the forward group is ready to go. Add Murphy and EDM on the backend for KK and Allan and rock and roll on 10/7 against the Panthers.

Not sure if you guys noticed, but EDM played over 23 minutes last night, and I don’t have the stats but he seemed to be on the ice every time Thomas was on the ice. He was also a +2, however I know the plus/minus could be a skewed stat, unless you’re Bobby Orr and end up the year at something like +127…

All good points captain, however the Hawks have had issues exiting their zone for quite a few years now. They currently have a bit more mobile defense, maybe it will improve their breakouts, we shall see.

Hate to see that. Surgery on a knee or ankle is one thing, however when it involves an organ, that’s always more concerning. Hope it all works out.

Looks like McTavish is signing with the Ducks, per Elliotte Friedman it will be $7MX6…

Well, they played decent in the first period, then it was Colliton bad after that. Can’t worry after one preseason game, many of these guys will be in Rockford or back in Juniors. Bedard was definitely the best player on the ice, the rest besides Soda were meh.

I also like size up the middle, however not all centers in every single line need to have size. Yes, the first wave of centers are not huge, however the second wave of Frondell, Boisvert, Spellacy and Greene all bring size, and my understanding is that Moore is up 195 lbs as well. As the 25/26 season starts, there’s no need to overpay for a McTavish at this time, first KD needs the dust to settle and see what these guys all bring. There are a lot of darts in both offense and defense, eventually they’ll need to move a couple or three of them(no room at the inn)to upgrade a need, that time is not now because we don’t know what the need will be. One thing is for certain, it will probably not be a RD. JMHO

Hey, Lou…….. i think you under value McTavish and by a good bit. He’s not a middle 6 C, look at the numbers, his floor is 2C IMO. Lou, he was drafted in 2021 and played his 18/19 yr old draft +1 season in the OHL and 9 games with the Ducks then his 19-20-21 yr old seasons with the Ducks. In those 3 yrs he put up 43 in 80 as a 19 yr old rookie, 42 in 64 and last yr and 52 in 76 as a 21 yr old!! At 220 lbs. A centerman in the Bigs. That sound like a middle 6er?.

And as great as Rinzel looks and as great Lev’s traits are they have 27 NHL games between them while McTavish has 229 NHL games playing center as a 220lb 19-20-21 yr old who’s scored at a .61 clip. …. Anything we attribute to Lev and Rinzel today is pure projection but with McTavish we have a 230 NHL game sample size.

And before I forget, I meant to post this in every McTavish post, how do you see Bennett? A middle 6er? What would you give for a blood and guts mother humpin bastard like Bennett for all sorts of reasons and boxes checked? …… Remember now, his high pts for a season is 51!!!

I’m not beating the table for McT but I kinda am. Or at least I’m all for swapping out elite D prospect (system strength, for elite forward prospect (system weakness but less so with the Frondell add) and it just so happenes McTavish fits every box of what I’d love em to add. ……….. I guess for another blog is resource allocation? In 5 yrs if Rinzel and Artie reach their ceilings will it cost 40 mil per to pay em? And if so is that proper asset allocation?
    ——-
I hear you Rico, but let’s say that Bedard and Frondell hit their ceiling(could very well happen), that would make McTavish a 3C at $7-8M AAV, I don’t think that is good asset management either. Guys like Bennett and McTavish are valuable to cup contending teams, no doubt, but let’s see how these kids develop before they give up too early on them, especially the seven I mentioned earlier.

Not very likely Robin, and neither would I trade McDavid or McKinnon for a RD, however the discussion was related to McTavish, not superstar centers.
