I grew up about a mile from the Chicago Stadium an saw my first games when cyclone fencing was behind the impact glass as extra protetcion for the fans in the front row seats. Was fortunate to get early opportunities to attnd with a group of fellas who had loved the game as far back as the likes of Johnny Mariucci. Their seast were under the prrsssbox in section M, and intermissions was when they approached the likes of Emile Francis, King Clancy, and Harold Ballard, and any injured Hawks sitting up there. When the barn was closed and the new UC was built, my frustration with the price and product had me decide I would spend my free time finding them better junior players then they were drafting. (I knew they weren't paying anybody to come in.) I had an in through Don Murphy the guy who named Bobby "the Golden Jet" so was in the team's draft phone line when the drafts were smaller affairs, with the press and much of the staff at the Stadium and not in Montreal, or wherever the draft was staged. I was one of the first caretakers of the Blackhawk board on Hockey's Future, until the twins sold it. I was fortunate to catch on at Jared Belson's DraftSite.com as their hoceky draft guy. Jared eventually sold the site to Lines.com, who decided to attempt to rebuild Jared's composition, and failed in the first attempt and we are now into a new variation with me throwing my two cents worth with a seven round draft there.
