ParticipantThe Powerplay would improve if they would actually shoot the puck, instead of passing it back and forth from the perimeter with nobody in front of the crease. It seemed like Risto, Tippett and TK were the only ones who were actually willing to shoot the puck. We won’t mention how often the Flyers would miss the entire net. The days of LeClair, Knuble, Hartnell or Simmonds in front of the net are long gone, but it was nice to see Martone go to the crease once he was called up. The Flyers worked hard to make it to the playoffs and win one round, but just imagine how good this team would be if they actually had a decent powerplay? Hopefully Yogi figures the PP out, but I’m not holding my breath.

ParticipantErsson had some of the worst goalie stats in the entire league. He had a nice post Olympics run, but you need a backup to be more consistent through the entire season. Briere pulled a rabbit out of his hat last summer by signing Vladar. Maybe he can do it again this year and find us a good back up on the cheap?

ParticipantIt was great to make the playoffs, but there’s still a lot of work to do. Signing a big name Center would be nice, but I don’t think Briere is going to empty the bank on one player. It was great for our young team to gain some playoff experience. It did seem that some of the smaller players didn’t handle the physicality of the playoffs that well. Andrae, Drysdale, York and Michkov got pushed around. Risto was a beast and it was good to see him finally make the playoffs. Let’s see what moves Danny makes this off season and let’s see which young guys make the jump from the LHV to the NHL come season?
Thor
ParticipantOur Offense has to improve or it’s going to be a very short series. Right now Risto is our leading score for the playoffs. Our Offense has to top overpassing the puck and shoot it! I hope Tippett is in tonight, but it doesn’t look good.

ParticipantThe team seemed deflated without Tippett. Carolina’s forecheck gave the Flyers fits. Too many dump and no chases or 1 and dones for Philly. It was nice to see the Flyers finally put some pucks on net, but that was at the end of the game with a PP and the goalie pulled. Hopefully they shoot more in the next game. Hopefully Tippett is back for game 2? I wonder if Tocch will change the line up next game?
Thor
ParticipantSome sites are saying that Tippet is out for tonight’s game. Any updates?
Thor
ParticipantHopefully sitting Michkov will have lit a fire under his butt and he comes out hungry tonight without a parade to the penalty box. The 4th line of Glendening/Coots/Foerster doesn’t look bad. Being able to roll 4 lines that can actually score is huge. Hopefully the Flyers hit the net, instead of missing everything like the last game.
April 28, 2026 at 11:20 am in reply to: Flyers Fall To Pens in Game 5: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly #71794Thor
ParticipantWhy are the Flyers so reluctant to shoot the puck on the PP? They waste 3/4’s of the PP passing the puck around at the perimeter and looking for the perfect shot. A shot on net make get us a deflection or a goal from a rebound, but if we don’t shoot the puck, it’s never going into the net. It was very obvious late in the game with Vladar pulled. Too much passing, not enough shooting. Is this how Yogi is teaching the guys?
On a side note: How many shots did the Flyers take that never hit the net last night? Let’s finish the pens off next game!
Thor
ParticipantThe Flyers were due for a clunker after a great run since the Olympic break and they had it last night vs a desperate team. Vladar’s giveaway gave the pens a lot of momentum. Shake this game off and move on. Winning the series on Pens ice wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen. Vladar didn’t have his best game. Will Ersson see some ice time in Pitt???

ParticipantVladar seems banged up so he may need to sit a game. Hopefully he is able to play on Saturday? Having the home crowd may get Ersson through a tough game 4 vs the pens if Vladar is out. Hopefully things work out and no need for a game 5 in pissburgh.
Thor
ParticipantThe Pens couldn’t handle the physicality of the Flyers and it threw their stars off their game. The Pens looked silly trying to muck it up with seconds left in the 3rd period. A sweep to win it all in Philly would be great to see. The Pens will try to make some changes to their game, but I doubt it will work. Go Flyers!
April 19, 2026 at 12:21 pm in reply to: Flyers Edge Penguins In Game 1: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly #71008Thor
ParticipantGreat win, but the Flyers made it a little too exciting in the end. The penguins have a lot of talent, but getting physical takes them off their game. It was great to see Cindy Crybaby so upset at the end of the game with Sandheim. As Tocchet said, Risto is bult for the playoffs and we need a dman that is big enough to clear the crease against some of the bigger forwards. I’m happy that he was not traded at the deadline and that he has finally made it to the Playoffs. Let’s see what the next game brings?
Thor
ParticipantIt’s amazing to see the Flyers get 98 points and 3rd place in the Metro with a non existent Power Play. Getting Martone and Foerster back was like getting 2 stud players in a trade. Both are willing to cause problems in front of the net. Hopefully the PP improves with both guys back. The Flyers have to stay out of the box or it’s going to be a short series. Glad to see Risto finally make it to the playoffs.
Thor
ParticipantCarolina has been tough on the Flyers the last few years. I was wondering if Tocchet puts Ersson in goal tonight and saves Vladar for Tuesday in a possible win or die game vs Montreal?
Thor
ParticipantJust a quick list–Mikael Granlund, Boone Jenner, Mason McTavish, Marco Rossi, Gabe Vilardi. We would all prefer somebody younger like McTavish, but we will see what happens. Maybe some sort of a trade for non free agent? Something has to be done because Dvorak and Coots are not top line Centers.
