The Flyers are playing like it’s the beginning of Pre-season. Time to let them know that the regular season has started.
It’s great to have some size and physicality on defense along with some good puck movers, but it’s too early to see who makes the cut. I’m looking forward to following Soko’s development. I’m not expecting him to become another Pronger or Chara at 6’7″, but having a tall rangy Defenseman that can shut things down would be a nice luxury.
I was a big Sixers fan when Dr J played. Today’s NBA game is not worth watching. Nobody plays defense and everything is a dunk or 3 pointer. The players take 10 steps without dribbling. To make matters worse, LeBron is the star of the league and he flops and cries more than a soccer player. I can’t wait to see hockey start again.
34.1% is not good on faceoffs for our projected top line Center. The Flyers had Bobby Clarke help Giroux with his faceoffs and that worked out very well ( 56.6% lifetime ). Clarke had the comment on faceoffs–“If you’re not cheating, then you’re not trying”. Why not have Clarke give Zegras some pointers on faceoffs, too? Winning more faceoffs would also help our dismal powerplay.
Briere tried, but we still need a quality Center. Will they try Zegras at center again or possibly give Luchanko a chance? Hopefully they find somebody to run the PP? This team made it to the playoffs with the worst PP in the league. Just imagine how far they could go with a decent PP?
I know it’s day #1 of Free Agency, but not impressed at all so far. Briere HAD to sign Foerster and Vladar, so he doesn’t get a pat on the back for doing something he was supposed to do. We have so many wingers, why sign Accairi and Ashton-Reese? They will barely make it to the 3rd line. Hopefully Brier finds a quality Center without overpaying? Very glad that Nurse didn’t sign with Philly. Let’s see what Danny’s next moves will be?
Keep Martone and Foerster. It would suck to lose Michkov, but that’s what it might take to get this trade moving. Michkov is young and still getting used to the NHL and he seemed overwhelmed in his limited exposure to the Playoffs. Let’s see what moves Briere can up with this summer?
Soko may not be the 2nd coming of Chris Pronger, but it will be nice to have a big Dman that can be paired up with one of our smaller stick handling Dmen.
