ParticipantSeeing that Porter Martone has been signed. Any ideas as to when he might make his Flyers debut?

ParticipantBrink for Jiricek. Wow.
Absolute steal. Big 22 YO RHD with Top 4 potential for a small .5 PPG depth winger who was odd man out anyway. If they don’t do anything else, I’m satisfied.
The only way to look at this is all Bobby Brink was worth is a reclamation project? A kid whose only attribute is his size as he can’t skate and is a very low hockey IQ player.
Granted, Brink is no superstar, but being as kind as I possibly can be, this is a very underwhelming return.

Participantdanny is a putz and in over his head. that’s been clear for a while. He let torts walk all over him and now tocchet. they seem to not have much respect for their boss.
The Flyers show all the signs of an organization that has little to no internal communication… nobody ever seems to be on the same page (and that’s been the case for a while now), and it’s why I continually say they’re directionless.

Participantgo read tweets or the like from flyers beat in september. They raved how good MM looked. Not much if anything about out of shape and the like. Evevn the coach praised him. no the tables have turned. like cutter MM is just taking the high road not saying anything
What have the flyers done to help him? Have they assigned a personal trainer? A dietichen? anything to get back on track.
seeing the cutter situation and now all the MM bullshit. Wonder what Martone is thinking? No worries player banging down the door to play for the flyers and tocchet.
Well, the previous coach and current GM carried his stuff through the airport, so there’s that.
The Flyers drama is of their own making. Let’s see if they can handle it with a bit of professionalism this time.

ParticipantPlain and simple, the Flyers are the same thing they’ve been for roughly a decade now… directionless. The plan has been business as usual, and the organization has regressed, and to think otherwise is to completely ignore the results over the past 10 years.

ParticipantThey need to learn how to play from the Christmas break to the Trade Deadline… that’s the time period everything goes off the rails and sinks the season every year, and this season was no different.
Last three season? Yup. This year is inexcusable though. They didn’t dump (Frost/Farabee was a dump), have the league suspend or trade players.
No matter what excuses are put forward, it has happened multiple seasons. I’d say the problems run deeper than injury or trades.

Participantif you can’t overcome the loss of the Forest then you were never good to begin with.
They still played .600 hockey, 7-4-4, after Foerster went down. It was after the Anaheim game where Drysdale and Brink got knocked out of action after dirty hits when the team fell apart. They’ve been 2-8-2 since. Vladar got hurt during that stretch. Did not help. Team needs to get bigger, tougher, meaner as well as better.

But Rick Tocchet was definitely the right hire! And I had to take a look, only to be surprised they’re “only” paying him $5M a year… thought it was a hell of a lot more than that.
And I have no idea who the guy who posted this is, but he goes on to try and defend the organization in some of his replies. He has a few other posts where he’s all over the place opinion-wise.
I would say the Flyers of today are one of the greatest comedies ever if they didn’t truly believe they were on the right track.

ParticipantDefensively, as the Flyers approach the trade deadline, I can’t help but wonder if placing Rasmus Ristolainen on the top pair is a bit of feature work to move him by then for an acceptable return. While reports are that it would take “alot” to move him, his continued injuries (he’s only played 17 games this season) likely give other clubs pause.
I’d like to know what an “acceptable return” is for a broken-down defenseman who can’t seem to find the ice for more than a couple weeks thanks to injury. I’d also like to know what team/GM thinks Ristolainen is a piece they need (understanding that Chuck Fletcher is in New Jersey, but only as an advisor). I get there’s a premium on right-handed defensemen, but at this point in time, that’s the only positive you can say about the guy.
I suspect there’s a bunch of folks speculating Ristolainen could be traded simply for clicks as I can’t imagine anyone being this lost in Fantasyland.

ParticipantBONK is injured again. Zevagrin hasn’t played in over a month. not a peeps from any beats
I don’t buy into hype for Flyers prospect goalies as I’ve seen this too many times over the years. Until they’re excelling in the NHL, they’re nothing more than the next Maxime Oullet to me (let’s see how many remember that franchise-saving goalie from the past).

ParticipantThe latter option is a concern because it shows the shortcomings of a rebuild that’s been years in the works. It means that the Flyers had to sign Dvorak, not knowing whether they had the center to replace him. If Jett Luchanko isn’t the answer and Jack Nesbitt, whom the Flyers traded up to select in the first round of the latest draft, isn’t either, this rebuild is in trouble.
This is the same reason why they’ll re-sign a completely broken-down Rasmus Ristolainen… who in the system is coming in to replace him? Funny how the entire organization has gone completely silent about Oliver Bonk. I get that he was injured, but not a word about him since his return. As for the rest of the guys in the system, not an NHL defenseman in the bunch.
As for the two centers mentioned… neither is the answer.
It looks a lot like what Edmonton did over the years… drafted the same player over and over (in our case, wingers) and wondered why they never seemed to progress in the standings.

ParticipantFlyers are actively getting worse as the season goes on.
The Flyers start the season in playoff mode while other teams ramp up. Other teams have another gear, the Flyers don’t. They have been redlining since Oct.
Zegras has 2 goals in his last 10 and 5 in his last 20 which is more in line with what he was doing in Anh versus the first month of the season. His shooting precentage was 50% above his career early on and has been falling back to the mean ever since.
The way the Flyers were winning was unsustainable and everyone knew it except for the true believers.
nothing will change until the people in charge wake up and realize the flyers way of running a franchise is the wrong way.
still laughing at the dvorak ext. there was zero need to do it at that time if at all.
cant wait to hear the spin from the wonder twins after the season.
So the Flyers hit the wall in December, essentially the same pattern they’ve shown the past 5 seasons.
Still having trouble understanding why some thought this team was better when their big offseason moves was signing a back-up goalie (yes, Vladar started well, but hit a wall as expected), a 3rd/4th line center (who has parlayed a hot start into a deal that will handcuff this franchise for the foreseeable future), and a AHL defenseman (guess Juulsen was a need as there’s no NHL talent in the minors).
And yes, one can’t help but laugh at the Dvorak extension, and as has been said on previous posts, it’s only a matter of time until their most important blue-liner who can’t seem to stay on the ice is signed to an extension.
This franchise can’t stay out of its own way, and why anyone would think otherwise puzzles me. While they may talk a good game, none of their actions over the past 15 years says they’re serious about being anything more than a team hoping for the playoffs, yet coming up short year in and year out.
VonZipper
ParticipantIf what the team has shown on ice during this “slump” (and quite frankly, for the past decade) is their culture, then they deserve the additional decade of irrelevance they’re destined for.
Change front offices, coaches, etc. all you want… this unit as a whole lacks the hockey IQ to be anything more than a team outside the playoff bubble year in and year out.

ParticipantQuote from Brière:
The Rebuild is Over” (Sept 2025): Brière indicated that the team is moving into a new phase and that the era of being “sellers” at the trade deadline is over, stating it would be a failure if they were in that position again.
and this one
“But like I said, when you’re not spending $12 million on a player, or even two like Edmonton does… Colorado has three or four high-end guys. We’re not going to be built that way. So depth will be important to us.”
What a great management team the flyer has assembled. there was zero need to sign dvorak when they did. all while his value was at its highest. Guess those wharton classed Danny took dont resonate with him at all.
5 years of another 3rd lie center.
dvorak- cates- ex selke is def a cup contending center group.
Depth is so important that after 5 seasons as a bottom-dweller, the Flyers still have none.
