Hutson Called Up By Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers made another transaction on Monday morning. They are hoping it will help with their secondary scoring. After falling 4-1 to the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, the Oilers announced that prospect Quinn Hutson has been recalled from the Bakersfield Condors. The 23-year-old sits third in the AHL, with 16 goals, and fourth in points with 28.

Hutson, who played with Boston University in the NCAA for three seasons, signed a two-year entry-level deal with the Oilers late last season. He made his Oilers debut a short time later, suiting up for two games. The signing is starting to look like a good one for the Oilers. His rookie season with the Condors is going better than expected. For most who know Hutson, this call-up was only a matter of time.

For those who don’t know, Quinn’s older brother, Lane, is already a star defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens. Lane Hutson has racked up 96 points through his first 116 NHL games. The Hutson bloodline runs deep. Their younger brother, Cole, is a 2024 second-round draft pick of the Washington Capitals. He has seven goals and 20 points in 18 games with Boston University this season. Then there is Lars (17), who has two assists in 24 games for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.

Hutson Could Debut on Road Trip

After suffering their first regulation loss in six games, the Oilers will be back in action on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. It will be the third game of the Oilers’ current five-game road trip. After the Penguins, they will meet the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild later in the week. Edmonton will return home to play the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. They have yet to confirm when Hutson will make his season debut, but fans should expect to see him at some point during this road trip, perhaps even on Tuesday night.
