Leafs Top 50 Prospects – Noah Chadwick

The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has drafted and developed a number of youngsters currently playing in the NHL (Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly, Matthew Knies), but the club under former GM’s Kyle Dubas and Brad Treliving, and new GM John Chayka have had different ideas of what kind of prospects they wanted to populate the organization with.

As we’ve done on a yearly basis, we will be ranking the club’s top prospects over the upcoming weeks based on their progress in either the NCAA, CHL, Europe, ECHL, or AHL, and their potential to make the Leafs roster and make a contribution in the future.

At the 2023 NHL Draft, the Maple Leafs were fairly bereft of picks after making several deals at the trade deadline in an effort to load up for the playoffs. After selecting Easton Cowan at the bottom of the first round, Toronto only had picks in the fifth and sixth rounds.

With their final pick in the draft, the Leafs selected Lethbridge Hurricanes blueliner Noah Chadwick 185th overall. The 6’4”, 187 lb. defenseman had 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) in 67 games in his first full WHL season, but really showed some growth in 2024, more than doubling his offensive numbers with 56 points (12 goals, 44 assists) in 66 games. In his final junior season, the big blueliner had another excellent season (13 goals, 40 assists in 66 games), was named the Hurricanes team captain, and scored seven goals in 16 WHL Playoff games.

The 21-year-old signed an entry-level contract with Toronto the December after being drafted and made his professional debut with the AHL Toronto Marlies at the end of the 2023-24 season. In his first professional season, Chadwick accounted himself fairly well, posting 23 points (5 goals, 18 assists) in 68 games, and played 16 games during the Marlies Calder Cup championship playoff run.

A good developmental prospect with solid skills, it is expected that Chadwick will play another full season with the Marlies, but with significant age on the Leafs defensive group, an NHL opportunity over the next couple years is not out of the question.
