The Montreal Canadiens were riding the wave of a three-game winning streak into a Saturday night matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. It was the biggest game of the year, so far, with first place in the Atlantic Division up for grabs. The Wings left the Bell Centre with a 4-0 win after shutting down one of the league’s most potent offenses.
While the Canadiens are enjoying a successful season so far, their general manager is fully aware that there is considerable work left to do, as Habs’ management guides the team through a rebuild. The goal, as has been stated often, is to turn the team into a perennial contender for the Stanley Cup.
This Week’s Show
In this episode of the Canadiens Connection podcast, we’re digging into what Canadiens GM Kent Hughes had to say at his press conference this week — and more importantly, what it tells us about where this team really is right now and where it’s going. We’ll break down his comments on the rebuild, the progress we’re seeing on the ice, and some key names like Lane Hutson, Michael Hage, and Kirby Dach. Of course, we’ll also tackle the elephant in the room: the current three-goaltender situation and what it means for the rest of the season.
Some of the general manager’s answers brought clarity, others raised new questions — and that’s exactly where today’s conversation begins.
