Edmonton Oilers forward Jason Dickinson provided a positive injury update on Monday. Another important step toward returning to the Oilers’ lineup. Dickinson joined his teammates on the ice and fully participated in practice before speaking with the media afterward.
The forward said he is feeling better and remains hopeful he can return to game action soon. He’s hoping it will be during the Oilers’ upcoming road trip through California. While he stopped short of putting a definitive date on his return, Dickinson’s full participation in practice is an encouraging sign. Edmonton continues to monitor his progress.
For Dickinson, returning to the ice with his teammates marks another milestone in his recovery. The Oilers will be hoping the veteran forward continues to respond well to the increased workload and can work his way back into the lineup sooner rather than later. With the California swing approaching, Dickinson appears optimistic that his absence from game action may be nearing its end.
Edmonton doesn’t play until Wednesday, which should give him more time to rest and rehab an injury he says never fully cleared up over the summer.
Dickinson Hopes to Rejoin Team Soon
Dickinson said he was doing jumps during the summer to test an injury he suffered at the end of last season. “As I made a few jumps, there was one where I never made another jump. So I spent a month trying to figure out what wasn’t working, what was compensating, and why I wasn’t getting the reactions I needed out of my ankle. We spent a good month here figuring that out.”
It sounds like he’s finally got it sorted, and he’ll look to join the Oilers, who currently sit second in the NHL standings and are making do without a good chunk of their top-six forward group available. Edmonton forwards Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman remain out of the lineup with injuries.
