Rangers Not Trading J.T. Miller

The New York Rangers are undoubtedly a team to keep an eye on with the 2026 NHL trade deadline rapidly approaching. This is because Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury sent out a letter to the team’s fans sharing that they are set for a retool.

With the Rangers being open to making moves, several of their players have been creating chatter in the rumor mill as trade candidates. Rangers star forward Artemi Panarin is the club’s top trade candidate, as the team has informed him that they are not signing him to a contract extension. A few other names who have come up as trade candidates for the Rangers include Vincent Trocheck, Carson Soucy, and Brennan Othmann.

Yet, while multiple Rangers are creating chatter as trade candidates, it has been confirmed that they are not looking to move one of their top stars.

According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, Miller is not willing to waive his no-movement clause, and the Rangers have zero interest in trading him elsewhere.

“What I was told today is that Miller has no intention of waiving his no-move clause, and the Rangers have no intention of going to him and asking to waive it. They traded for him last year, they made him captain, and they still believe in the reasons why they made that move. Miller should not be part of whatever exodus of players leaves New York,” LeBrun said.

Rangers See Miller As Big Part Of Their Future

With the Rangers not being willing to trade Miller, it is clear that they see him as an important part of their future. It is entirely understandable given that he named their captain ahead of this season, which LeBrun noted.

With Miller staying put, he will be one of the big players whom the Rangers will rely upon to help turn things around. They will be hoping that his skill and leadership can help the next era of Rangers hockey as they begin their retool.

In 42 games this season with the Rangers, Miller has recorded 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 points. This is after he had 13 goals and 35 points in 32 games with the Rangers after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks this past season.
