Red Wings Prospects are on Fire Right Now

The Detroit Red Wings have had some tough losses, however the Griffins are undefeated.  The prospects had a solid, indeed impressive performance on Friday night. Sebastian Cossa had a big night, as well as a 30 goal shutout for his most important audience. General Manager Steve Yzerman was at the game, and it was a solid performance to observe.

The Griffins were outshot by the Moose, however the physicality and battling was incredible. John Leonard scored twice, likewise Nate Danielson had two assists in his return. The Red Wings need energy, and there are several players in the AHL that could provide a needed lift for the team.

Nate Danielson returns, and Yzerman watches

By all accounts, Nate Danielson is very close to becoming an NHL rookie for the Red Wings. Danielson, along with Carter Mazur, was hurt during training camp. That setback put both players in Grand Rapids, however that situation may soon be remedied. The Red Wings issues aren’t simply wins and losses, there is a lack of consistency from too many players.

Danielson lives shift to shift, because of that he manages to minimize gaps in his play. Players like J.T. Compher and Rasmussen seem to be hot and cold, accordingly the team suffers. The coaches have made it clear, jobs are being earned on a night to night basis. If that is indeed the case, there should be some consideration of roster moves before the upcoming road trip.

The Griffins are making history right now

For just the second time in team history, the Griffins are 5-0-0 to start the season. Along with that record comes confidence, and that’s is something the Red Wings are struggling with. If McLellan opts to bring a prospect on the road, that could be the spark the helps the team to settle in.

The Red Wings rebuild centers on the prospects, accordingly when one is ready a veteran steps aside. The entire team needs to fight for the collective success, and not every player seems to be all in. This is an exciting time in the “Yzerplan” and the rookies are aware of the opportunity. It may be time, once again, for a prospect to take their place on the main roster.
