Stars Rise Above Sharks: Streak at Nine

The Dallas Stars rode a three-goal outburst in the third period to a 4-1 win over the San Jose Sharks at American Airlines Center on Friday night. Mikko Rantanen led the way with a three-point performance (one goal, two assists).

Dallas has earned points in nine consecutive games (7-0-2). Overall, the Stars improved to 19-5-5.

Sam Steel netted the winning goal, snapping a 1-1 deadlock midway through the third period. Meanwhile, Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen tallied the other goals for Dallas and Wyatt Johnston collected a pair of assists. In goal, Jake Oettinger made 16 saves on 17 shots. Only a Collin Gran goal got past him.

The penalty kill stepped up for the Stars before they went on to win the game. Another key factor. The Sharks had a Mackin Celebrini goal, which would have reduced the gap to 3-2, disallowed on a coach’s challenge for an offside.

Glen Gulutzan’s team returns to action on Sunday. The Stars will host Dan Muse’s Pittsburgh Penguins (14-7-5) at 5:00 p.m. CST.
