The New York Islanders launched their first-ever NHL fan-driven design contest for their third jersey on Thursday. This jersey would be introduced during the 2027-28 season. This contest is the first time in NHL history that a franchise will have a fan-designed official team jersey.
The team has provided this digital design tool for their fans who are participating in this contest. It gives anyone the tools they need to create their vision. This design tool contains things like historic patches, official fonts, and extensive color palette to use while creating their jersey concept.
Fans have the ability to create these jerseys starting Thursday, July 8th and can submit them until Friday, July 24th. A team committee will review the designs once the submissions close and pick five finalists. These five finalists will have their designs posted online for a public fan vote to take place in August.
Within minutes of the competition being announced, fans took to social media to post their creations.
Whichever design wins will become the official New York Islanders third jersey for the 2027-28 season. The winner will receive a signed version of their jersey, and tickets to the game the jersey debuts.
