The Oilers Are Starting to Get Busy

Edmonton Oilers fans can get an early look at the team during Oilers Fan Day at Rogers Place and Ice District later this month.

OEG Sports and Entertainment (OEGSE) announced on Tuesday morning that the annual event will take place on September 19th. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will feature Oilers open practices, an exclusive locker room sale, and a variety of family-friendly activities. A great way for fans to prepare for the start of the team’s 2026-27 season. Edmonton’s season officially starts on September 29th when they host the Vancouver Canucks.

This year’s fan event will begin with the Oilers locker room sale. It will be held in Ford Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fans can buy game-used equipment, exclusive merchandise, and limited-edition Oilers gear.

Edmonton will begin its pre-season schedule against the Winnipeg Jets that evening. Oilers fans will be able to watch the players who play that evening take the ice for their morning skate at 9:30 a.m. Then, at 10:10 a.m., fans can watch practice that will feature the rest of the team at the Downtown Community Arena.

The Ice District Plaza will host a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day. Fans will be able to take photos with several Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings alumni, along with mascots Hunter, Lynx, and Louie the Lion. Admission to all Fan Day activities is free, with fans of all ages welcome to attend.

Oilers Take First Skate

In Edmonton on Tuesday, players hit the ice at the Downtown Community Rink for their first skate. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Kasperi Kapanen, among others, were seen taking part.

Things are moving quickly in Edmonton this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Oilers will have media days. Then, rookie camp will begin on Friday. Next Tuesday (September 15th), players will report for the start of training camp. The team will play its first pre-season game against the Winnipeg Jets on September 19th.
