ParticipantCalgary’s rebuilding and Kadri’s not a great fit for that timeline. He’s still producing 60-70 points a year, so his 7M isn’t the worst in the world, especially with the cap going up.
He 100% plays Berube’s game and he would be welcomed with open arms by the fan base. Plus it is more center depth and gives us some different looks. Kadri/Roy/Domi would be a fun line, or maybe Kadri on Matthews’ wing?
Could we send Kampf and Jarnkrok their way to get them out of a contract they don’t want and free up enough space for Kadri?

ParticipantNo.
Jenner and McBain are younger, cheaper and better for what the Leafs need.

ParticipantLeafs have their 4 centers. It’s in the top 6 on the wing that they require an upgrade.

Regardless of who they get, it’s not like a centre couldn’t be moved to the wing – including Kadri if you got him, for that matter.

Honestly, we need new ideas
Kadri is 34, has 4 more years left. Just not a great contract imo. Also, kampf and jarnie wouldn’t get kadri.

ParticipantI would welcome Kadri back. but age and contract are concerning. As long as it leaves enough room for the 2026 UFAs

It is a tad buggy. I always wish the formatting was better: tighter columns, more contrast between quotes and replies, fonts in general I’m not a fan of.

ParticipantI also think that, for the amount of posters on here, there should just be a thread per blog post. I liked that. We still could stray from the topic at hand, but at least we all were in the same place for a few days.

ParticipantYeah, buggy: got an “Error: Your reply cannot be created at this time.” with the same text as above, but probably nested quotes which it doesn’t handle well.

i delete the first post from a quote reply if there are multiple. seems to work fine that way

ParticipantYeah. I’ve been getting nothing but errors – even not quoting.
My point at the time was simply that if you look at the ages and terms of the guys on this team – Tavares, Tanev, McCabe, Rielly, OEL – it doesn’t seem like Kadri would be a stretch. It looks a lot like they’ve set our window realistically in the next 4 years or so.
I also don’t think that Jenner is a strong fit given that he’s 32, hasn’t played more than 70 games since before COVID and the last time he had over 50 points was a decade ago. I like his physicality, but if I’m going to get an overaged centre, I’d aim for Kadri. That said I would also be very in on O’Reilly.

Yes guy.
Kadri all day. Depending on how the deal shakes out, we may get them to retain cap space too for taking on age 38/39 of that contract.

NHL agent Allan Walsh says he projects the salary cap to be around $120M for 2027-2028.That’s an increase of about $25M on the current cap ($95.5M).
If true, getting players locked in to long-term contracts (6+ years) now will give teams a major advantage.
Plenty of room for Kadri.

that would be wild
its super annoyinng the cap went up 4 mil from 2019-2024 while the Leafs got core 4’d by the cap
