In addition to Coach Frenchy’s regular blogs, this forum has been created to discuss any Blackhawks thoughts related to roster development, prospect news, projected lineups, game day chat, actual trades, fantasy trades, rumors, free agent signings and whatever else hockey news everyone want to discuss.

This is an awesome idea! I’ll do my best to join you and the others — the more conversations, the more fun it gets. Thanks for the kind words… and Go Blackhawks Go!

Good idea Boiler. I place to put random Blackhawks thoughts is a good idea. And thanks CoachFrenchy, the blogger we didn’t deserve, but are glad we got.

The Tom Kurvers showcase will be held in Minnesota on Sept 13-14. Hawks prospects will play two games against their Wild and Blues counterparts. No roster set yet. Last year the games were streamed so I expect the same this year. Camp opens for the whole team the following week.

Thanks Boiler! Can’t believe how long we stayed at HB only for it to turn into an even bigger turd lol

I don’t think it’ll be an issue, he sounds like he’s a team player saying he’s doing this for his teammates to win a state title.

That to me is a staple of hockey players, team first.

I know things can change but all signs point to USHL after the football season then MSU hockey next year.

Tomorrow, September 1, Montreal wires $5.5M to Carey Price’s bank account, leaving a balance of only $2M, even less including the insurance payout for some team to pay him. We’ll see if a trade happens soon. I think CHI and SJS are the leading candidates. Maybe as some pundits wrote recently the trade would be expanded beyond Price plus a sweetener for future considerations.

Pittsburgh is a decent destination guess for the Price contract.
They are well above the floor now, but they may be trading away several contracts.

Could be the Penguins, too. They’ll probably have to retain on someone like Karlsson and/or take money back so they may not need Price’s contract to provide a cushion above the floor. We’ll see.

(something I posted earlier this summer, before people started showing up)

A look at the trade for the rotting corpse of Shea Weber(‘s contract):
    ————————————
    March 7th, 2025 (w/Utah)
    Hawks gave:
    2026 5th round pick

    Hawks received:
    Weber contract
    Victor Soderstrom
Aku Raty (went to play in Finland)
    ————————————-
    June 13th, 2025 (w/Boston)
    Hawks gave:
    Victor Soderstrom

    Hawks received:
    Ryan Mast
    2025 7th round pick
    ————————————
    June 28th, 2025 (w/Florida)
    Hawks gave:
    2025 7th round pick

    Hawks received:
    2026 7th round pick
    ————————————
    Overall the Hawks gave up:
1.25 million dollars (Weber contract is only $1mm/year real money in the ’24/25 and ’25/26 seasons. Approx. 0.25mm in ’24/25 and $1mm in ’25/26)
    2026 5th round pick

    Overall the Hawks received:
    7.86 million dollar cap hit
    Ryan Mast (AHL D-man)
    2026 7th round pick

Seems alright. I wouldn’t get too happy or sad about this. Cheap emergency cap floor compliance.

Al Bundy have 4 touchdowns in one game too.

Wondering if Kyle enters the chat for Carey Price’s contract. Brossoit for Price + 2026 conditional pick perhaps? Habs are currently $4.8 million over the cap. Swapping Price for Brossoit would get the Habs $3 mil under the cap so they’d still have room to play with down the line. Also nets them a solid goalie if he returns to playing in 25-26. For Hawks, they get something in return for Brossoit and let their problem become the Habs’ problem while absorbing Price’s contract.
