The Winnipeg Jets have returned home after winning three of four games on their recent road trip. On Monday, a home tilt awaits against the Seattle Kraken. With six games remaining on the schedule, the Jets are three points behind the lower wildcard-seeded Nashville Predators. The problem isn’t so much about the points. That’s potentially doable. The problem is that the Jets would have to beat out four teams — Nashville, Los Angeles, St. Louis — in the process.

That’s highly unlikely and this late stage of the season.

First things first. Winnipeg concluded its four-game road trip on Saturday. They defeated Rick Bowness and the Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1, at Nationwide Arena. Making his sixth consecutive start, Connor Hellebuyck got the win in goal.

Connor reaches 35+ goals again

Scoring both goals in Saturday’s game for the Jets, Kyle Connor is now up to 36 goals on the year. It is the fourth time in his career he has eclipsed the 35-goal mark. If he can continue to stay relatively healthy over the next few years, he may have a few more 35+ goal seasons ahead.

Salomonsson concussed

The Jets standout rookie defenceman Elias Salomonsson did not finish the road trip. The Swede was concussed after being on the receiving end of a reverse hit from Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson Thursday night.

With only six games remaining in the regular season, we may not see Salomonsson again until the fall when training camps open for the 2026-2027 season. With his play since the Olympic break, Salomonsson has firmly asserted himself as a top-four defenceman on the team for the foreseeable future.

Walton to join Moose?

Jets prospect Keiron Walton finished his OHL career last night when his Peterborough Petes were eliminated in six games by the North Bay Battalion in the first round of the OHL playoffs. He finished the playoffs with 6 points in 6 games. In the regular season, he had 40 goals to go with 48 assists. Overall, he totalled 88 points over 62 games.

Walton may now join the Manitoba Moose for the remainder of the AHL season. Walton was originally a sixth round pick of the Jets in the 2024
Draft.

Big picture for the Jets

Although it is still very improbable for the Jets to make the playoffs this season, they certainly are not going down without a fight. In reality, they pretty much have to run the table and win all six of their remaining games to make it to the post-season. They will also need a bit of help from teams in front of them losing.

The final pust starts on Monday. The Jetshost the slumping Seattle Kraken at the Canada Life Centre.
