ParticipantSounds good to me unless BPA top winger falls to us. Also expect more draft capital is coming before the draft. DeBrusk maybe a later 1st is still possible hopefully. EP is a strange predicament with so many variables & how he starts the season. My guy says he’ll bounce back to a 60-70pt player more if highly motivated but that is not a good bet given the 2 seasons. Boeser at best a TDL chip if a suitor steps up for scoring. Not holding my breath on that lol

ParticipantThis could happen… dare to dream that this is our C depth in a couple of seasons.
1C Alexis Joseph
2C Caleb Malholtra
3C Braden Cootes
4C Brooks RogowskiBeen thinking along those ideas as well. Gonna be much pain for 2-3 years but to be expected. Getting bigger & faster & better looks to be the plan. The D is still in the infant stage but is forming up nicely. It can use more top end talent to supply the system more depth. So far so good with RJ’d 1st draft. Need to see 2-3 prospects emerge & continue with more drafts.
Tasks at hand for Manny is figure out an identity & work on the woeful PK. I don’t see much help for the PK with the current group to work with. Play disciplined hockey is a good start. North South fast hockey & puck hounding system.
The 1st round is just jam packed with good forwards bumping the D to few in the 1st and many in the 2nd. Not because the D are poor… but because of the strength of the forward group. If they take a C with the 1st, it would be wise to use both 2nds on D… and make sure you swing for the fences on at least one.

ParticipantYes Cootes impressed & stood out above against everyone. Still has to make a case to stick in the NHL. UFA signings left that door open. Very good chance he makes the roster.
My wants is seeing a faster style & young guys getting plenty of opportunity to play through mistakes.
Hopefully Raty gets more leash. It was pretty telling when Raty went to the worlds and was one of Finlands better players. Foote had no patience for him even when they were short multiple C’s.
It is Raty’s time he has earned it & Manny imo is a much smarter coach than Foote. Never liked coaches being domineering over players in such a way. Players don’t fully develop if under the microscope in somebody else’s idea of what they should be. Give them much more leash.

ParticipantCootes looking good in Dev camp. Looks like his puck handling and shot has improved. Looking more than 1 year older than this new draft class by quite a bit. There’s no way he’s going back to junior. Full time pro this season.

ParticipantStarting off with Raty getting to be a full time 3C with Bleuger gone to get his nig chance. Barring any trades it’s likely EP & Rossi 1C & 2C. Cootes could make the roster as 3C. Rather he gets seasoning at Abby & a call up for additional seasoning. Leaves the 4C an open competition between Sasson & Meuller maybe Safronov.
On the wings Ohgren ride shotgun with EP as the digger & speed on the forecheck. Karlsson on the other side to see if the chemistry can continue. Rossi gets Boeser & Chytil as wingers. This all assumes DeBrusk is moved. Bottom 6 wingers left are DOC Lekerimaki Gallagher & either of the C’s not winning a C spot. Douglass maybe resigned at a 1yr min contract as a press boxer.
On D Buium & Willander & EPD should show growth after more experience last year & the next camp. Hronek will be the rock on D & MP the vet support & on the PK. Leaves Mancini & Kudryatsev as the 6/7 D. That leaves a probable vet UFA signed to support the kids.
In goal it revolves around Demko ready or not & idc if it’s a Lankinen/Tolopilo show.
Fully expecting a tank season with big signs of an identity emerging. Systems & special teams to be the big focus going forward.
Looking forward to plenty of growing pains for at least 2-3 years. Also plenty of the youth making impacts. Speed & energy & a lunch bucket mentality earns TOI & let mistakes get played through.
