Team Toyota Spotlight: Martone heads top 20 Flyers prospects

The sixth overall pick of the 2025 Draft made an immediate NHL splash late last season. Martone retains rookie status under the CBA but his Flyers stint burned the first year off his entry-level contract. He scored an empty net goal in Sunday’s 4-1 Rookie Series win. Earlier in the game, he fired several one-timers at the next.

After a dominant freshman season at Michigan State (putting up 50 points in 35 games), Martone signed his entry-level contract in late March 2026. The sixth overall selection of the 2025 Entry Draft made the most of his highly-anticipated arrival. Martone made a marked impact on the Flyers’ playoff push down the stretch.

Martone registered 10 points in his first 9 regular-season games. Later, he became the first teenager in NHL history to score consecutive game-winning goals in his first two Stanley Cup Playoff matches. Subequently, Martone joined Team Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Championships. There. he initially played on a high-profile line alongside Sidney Crosby and Macklin Celebrini. Later, the youngster moved to the fourth line for the remainder of the tourney.
