After losing their fourth straight game on Saturday, the New York Islanders, with four games to go in the regular season, have fired head coach Patrick Roy and have hired ex-Dallas Stars head coach Peter DeBoer. DeBoer was dismissed by the Stars after losing to the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Final for the second straight season, and was thought of as the top candidate for a number of head coaching vacancies this summer.
