Good on Guillaume Brisebois. He has battled for a spot since 2017. He’s 29 and has played 29 NHL games since he was drafted in 2015, but he’s going to start in the NHL.
While he’s not a top-six forward, Arshdeep Bains showed improvement in camp. Everyone assumed Aatu Raty was destined to start in Abbotsford. But with Chytil on the IR, Raty will start for the Canucks. He showed really well last Tuesday in Calgary.
Even though Mancini starts in Vancouver, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kirill Kudrayvstev plays games this year. He can play both sides.
Braeden Cootes will start in Abbotsford which is the right move. Let him cook in Abbotsford.
I expect to see Meriläinen to play one game this week. Canucks have a back-to-back at home against the Flames and Golden Knights on Saturday and Sunday. They start with a home game against the Edmonton Oilers. Tuesday in Edmonton; Thursday, the home opener.
