Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers (4-10-4) are in Alberta on Sunday to take on Ryan Huska’s Calgary Flames (7-9-1). The Flyers have lost each their last four meetings — and five of their last six — against Calgary dating back to the 2023-24 season.
The Flyers have had two days off to recover from an excruciating 3-2 regulation road loss in the first match of the current five-game road trip. The Flyers took a 2-1 lead well into the third period against the New York Rangers. Philly then yielded two goals in the latter half of the frame to come away without a point.
In the process, the Flyers wasted two goals from unexpected sources — defenseman Simon Benoit and checking forward Noel Acciari — and a strong goaltending performance from Joseph Woll.

Team Toyota Flyers Spotlight: Porter Martone
Owen Tippett has dealt with multiple injuries and health issues since the latter part of the 2025-26 season. That has played directly into an exceptionally slow start for the big speedy winger.
Tippett has seen reduced ice time in the three games he’s played since returning from an upper body injury. Getting him back on his game would be a major help to the Flyers.
When he’s rolling, Tippett is one Flyers player who creates his own offensive chances with his speed and ability to power the puck to the house.
On the Calgary side, keep an eye on Matt Coronato; their closest equivalent to Tippett’s physical tools. Coronato has posted 14 points to date (3g, 11a).

Behind Enemy Lines: Farabee and Frost
Former Flyers winger Joel Farabee has quietly had one of his best all-around season starts in his NHL career to date. He’s been tenacious in all three zones and usually around the puck. In terms of scoring stats, pucks are going in for him so far this season. Last season, they didn’t despite similar efforts.
Farabee leads the Flames with 16 points (6g, 10a) in 17 games. He’s been very good in a variety of situations including the power play (2 PPG, 7 PPA). He bagged a power play goal last game as a Morgan Frost rebound came to him in the slot.
Frost has tended to be a slow starter in his career; his typical production skews to late December to the end of the season. This season, he’s off to a decent statistical start (4g, 12 points) but his non- power play work has room for a lot better consistency. Six of his 12 points and three of his four goals have come on the power play.
Frost has usually been a better setup guy than goal scorer. However, he had a career-best 22 tallies last season. In terms of usage, he’s currently on the third line at 5-on-5 and the first power play unit.

60th Anniversary: Today in Flyers History
If not for a series of major injuries, power forward Tim Kerr may have finished above Hockey Hall of Famer Bill Barber (420 goals) as the all-time leading goal-scorer in Philadelphia Flyers’ franchise history. As it was, Kerr finished third (363).
On November 8, 1990, the right winger tied Bobby Clarke for third on the franchise goal-scoring list in
an otherwise forgettable 8-2 loss at the Spectrum to the Calgary Flames. The goal was 358 th of Kerr’s
career, which at that point had entirely been spent as a Flyer. In the Flyers’ next game, Kerr scored again
to take sole possession of third place.
A member of the Flyers Hall of Fame, Kerr recorded 650 points (363G-287A) in 601 regular season
games for the Flyers. He ranks sixth all-time in Flyers history in points (650) and third all-time in goals
(363), while holding the Flyers all-time record in power-play goals (145) regular season hat trick (17) and
total combined regular season and playoff hat tricks (20). He finished his career with one season apiece
for the New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers.
