Good blog as usual, Hugo.
Wasn’t aware that back-to-back Calder wins were such a rare occurence, the last time being the Booins with Orr and Sanderson in 67 and 68… would be pretty cool if Demidov wins it next year ????
I don’t want to overhype it but I’m pretty sure winning back-to-back Calder is a good indication your rebuild is going the right way. haha.
I’m already planning the parade in 2029.

I will admit, I am surprised by his first season.
To your point, size, inexperience and the “rookie wall” that lots of NCAA players hit in the second half of the season had me wondering if he was better off in Laval for the first part of the season.
I am pretty excited to see how he and Demidov work together, they both seem like rink rats and love to work on their game.
Should be exciting next year.

As much as people expect Hughes to trade one or both picks for immediate help, the closer to the draft we get, the less I think it happens and we end up drafting players.

yeah, I wouldn’t be disappointed if the habs did end up keeping both picks, as they could very well be adding decent prospects to the mix even if they aren’t top 10, but I do expect Hughes to use one of them in a trade to help with the team’s current needs… we’ll see 🙂

I really do not have much time right now… I just come by once and a while/every few days to catch up the BS and see what people are talking about.
But not likely.
Like I said, might just start new threads with longer ideas, when I can come up for air.

i think the goal is to have the site fully operational, or as close as possible, by the start of the season.
the Who We Are on the front page says “..the site aims to provide comprehensive, engaging, and fan-first coverage of all 32 NHL teams by the 2025–26 season, with contributions from PHWA members and other trusted voices.”

Guys, I just had a small exchange with Bill and he asks me what exactly are my thoughts about improving the user exprience on the forums.

the easiest way to use the site is to click on your name and then click engagements or favorites. favorites is actually just recently added and that is the best.
engagements shows you every thread you’ve ever posted in. favorites is better because you click favorite on the threads you’re interested in and then they are listed for you. if you get tired of a thread, you can delete it from the favorites list and then you don’t have to see it anymore.

I don’t see any of these games remain a low scoring game…. except maybe game 7.
i want them to just trade home wins now until the oilers win in game 7 but i just don’t know. can we trust the oilers after they’ve shown they’re capable of having lapses of good play varying from 1 period to entire games (game 3), even in the final?

The reason was the logo on the white, like me, is coloured. With the red shoulders and nicer stripe pattern I was like why not

This site will take a while to get used to…
i think we’re in on the beta stage. every once in a while they add a feature. it should be working better by the start of next season.
also, i always tell everybody about this because it’s the easiest wayto use the site:
click your name and engagements will be every thread you’ve posted in. favorites is even better because you pick your favorite threads by clicking “favorite” at the top of the screen and then they will be listed under favorites. if you throw your jersey on the ice and disown the team or a if a dope shows up in the thread and you’re no longer interested in that thread, you can delete it from your list of favorites. -

200 miles straight up into the mountains of PA. jackson township. almost to NY state. you get the binghamton tv stations. there actually are some really nice sites on the way but you have to like trees.
the closer you get, the less civilization surrounds you. then you get there and it’s like hazzard county. somehow it’s still 1979 up there. mountain people doing mountain things. the biggest thing in town is the fireworks store. there’s a dog in the restaurant. the supermarket has a bare cement floor and you can totally go in with no shoes and/or shirt and get service!

oh, i figured as much. dukes of hazzard painted a picture. lol
i was in a bar up there the first time i ever saw the walking dead and i just kept looking out the window and then back at the tv and then out the window and then back at the tv cause the scenery was kind of the same either place i looked.
that stuff is in town though. it’s beautiful where the house is. it’s just trees and mountains as far as you can see. if you’re in the right spot, way off in the distance you can see the neighbors house on another sort of elevated spot. it’s so far away it looks like a monopoly house.

I think hes intentionally deleting posts and banning people. The Flyers thread has been there for 3 days, zero posts and his main blog records 5 comments but theres only one in there
he’s definitely being even weirder and creepier than usual. i think he might be losing it a little bit over his empire crumbling and his friends and everybody leaving. he’s another one of these people that doesn’t seem to be able to understand simple cause and effect if he’s the cause.

His site used to be always humming 10-15 years ago. All day, everyday the main thread and popular team threads were always active. Right now, 12 years ago, there would be 20 of us in the habs threads until like 11. Now,dead all the time. We’re in the final and there is zero activity.
Looking at other forums, what’s the difference? Site maintenance,upgrades and integration of new features. EK’s bare bones operation has run its course and can go away. The STHs have gone away, so the point of investing is gone too.
What also hurts are good bloggers leaving and being replaced with people who lose interest in the task after months. Overzealous refs who chase out good posters and ban for fun. We get it, you have some power in your life too bad you can’t exercise it on people. Lastly, closing misc threads. Let us have some fun and create bonds beyond hockey team fandom.

i guess i wasn’t even fully grasping how much of a ghost town all the other parts of the site are now. i just took a look and it is kind of shocking. i always go right to the forums so i hardly ever see the front page. it is pretty barren now. wasn’t the warring factions of canuck fans still there just a few days ago? now they’re all gone?
who the hell is gonna hire that guy for a real job after his site closes?
