    That day is so ingrained in the Canadian fabric, that we have a national holiday so everyone can watch.

    oh i forgot you’re all off already.

    maybe i was trying to fit in with canada before i even knew you guys.

    it just always ended up disappointing me so i stopped burning the vacation day.

    i want fireworks every trade deadline and free agency day.

    same with free agency. i used to take off work every july 1 but it ended up to never really be worth it.

    It sure seems likely to suppress the upper end, cap circumvention type teams from being aggressive.
    Hopefully there will be some “cap room” teams like the Jets, Canes and Wild who will be willing to spice up the deadline.

    I suspect some teams are gonna be in a bad spot come the playoffs this year, the league will take a year or two to adjust to these new rules.

    Will be interesting to see how teams manage caps going forward.

    I think it would be worse in a flat cap era, but with the cap going up for the next few years (supposedly), this might not be as bad of an issue.

    But with the Playoff Cap coming in this year, I expect the TDL to be really lame and quiet.
