Utah currently holds the upper wildcard playoff spot in the Western Conference. The lower wilcard team, the Seattle Kraken, trail the Mammoth by a single point. Just below the cutoff line for the Western Conference playoffs, the San Jose Sharks are five points (four standings points, tiebreaker disadvantage) behind the Mammoth but have played two fewer games.
It should be embarrassing for the Flyers that expansion teams, teams that recently tanked, and the team formerly known as the Phoenix Coyotes are passing the Flyers. Where would you rank the Flyers among the 4 teams for the future? Embarrassing.
They hire a fitness coach a month before the season ends but have had a fight coach ever since Tocchet was hired. Tocchet whose system is the most boring basic dump and chase system in hockey. It wasn’t great hockey when they won and it’s even more unwatchable when they lose.
Great decision making and should tell you all you need to know about the Flyers thinking. For all the talk of playoffs among the Flyers front office this team has not improved since last year, in fact i would say they’ve regressed since the beginning of the season and all of the Tocchet “the player” hero worshipping by the media isn’t going to change that.
This team is and always has been one Vladar LTIR or losing whatever mojo he found this year from finishing bottom 5, even Bill will admit the way they won was not sustainable. The team needed/needs clear headed roster evaluation in relation to the long term goal, not save my job for another season thinking. Maybe they should’ve held off on that season ticket holder letter that focused on the playoffs.

Steal? No. It isn’t horrible though. It was fair value for a failed draft pick on his 3rd team in 2 years. His ceiling is 4/5, not any higher so most likely 3rd pair. That is if he makes it to the NHL as a regular. He is big and 22 and RH but you actually need to show that he can play and he hasn’t shown that since the draft. His development has completely stalled.
Even a 3rd pair RH dman has a better future on this team than Brink did long term so it was decent risk to take. Let’s hope he hits his ceiling, otherwise he’s just more AHL fodder.

Currently, he does suck. He was also behind Zeev Buium for the 1st part of the year who had no problem cracking the lineup. If you are saying he doesn’t, you are the only one. He is a lottery ticket. He was traded for Brink while Buium was traded for norris winning defenseman Quinn Hughes. Much like Jett, the league doesn’t view him that highly.
Jiricek, in his second trade in two years, is a 2022 top ten pick who has struggled recently. He is a big, right-shot defenseman with good hands and some offensive touch. He’s not an overly smart puck-mover, though, and has below-average mobility for the NHL. As a teenager, he was known for his grit/physical play, but that hasn’t been as noticeable in North America. He still has a good chance of being a 4/5 defenseman in the NHL but those odds are starting to fade a bit.

He’s still 22, so I’m not gonna completely write him off, but I’m not a believer in him developing into a top-four defenseman. I’d even be somewhat surprised if he becomes a solid No.5 — I think there’s a chance that he never becomes an NHL regular.Do you know of anyone who has a more positive projection of Jiri?
The dreams of an impact defenseman should be dead. His upside is Nick Seeler which is still useful. Most lottery tickets don’t cash but let’s hope this one does.
