yes its me 2050ParticipantHughes, although a fantastic player, isn’t what the Flyers need right now. They need to keep drafting, developing and building from within, now’s not “go time” as Hexy once said, in terms of adding pieces to the roster via trade.
the flyers version of the “rebuild” is over. add time

Participantwhy would they look to trade tippet. damn I cant think of one reason. he is a core player and valuable piece going forward towards winning a cup. what was I thinking.
I dont see much of a diff without york or the forest at this time at all. They do have pieces to make a deal for a top end player; if they become available. you just have to want to part with said pieces. its gonna hurt. I just dont think the putz GM has the nerve to make such a deal.
Vancouver wanting a center only would have hampered their return. any non idiot would see that. dumb way to go about business; though it is vancouver and they are poorly run. I would have offered MM to start then go from there. now buium is hughes lite. love it. guess your mind has changed on him big time. Are you saying the flyers have no one on D or in the system to compare to Buium?
The putz GM’s three big off-season player acquisitions are all having career years so far. Then add Tocchet. Hahaha!
Don’t see a difference? Thanks for telling us all you don’t know what you’re looking at. No, the Flyers clearly don’t have a young Dman with Buium’s one way upside. His defense? VAN was the worst team in the league with Hughes. They’re rebuilding now. Their window closed fast, as some of them do. MM for JH? Gone where from there? As usual, you have nothing. Vancouver wanting a center did not hamper their return. They got what they wanted. Of course, you keep babbling about how bad the Flyers are yet are now claiming they had the pieces to best MIN’s offer. Peak snowy day comedy.

lets break it down dip shit.
1. he gets credit for those deals 100%. still doesn’t mean he isnt a putz. lets see where all 3 are by years end. Cant wait for that dvorak ext. Then add tocchet lol. flyers fans are the best. all giddy over a guy with an under .500 coaching record. like he is going to lead them anywhere
2. as I said dont see much of a difference and the results and on ice playback that up. please elaborate otherwsie.
3. of course they dont have a dman like buium. a guy you have talked shit on all year. now he is hughes lite.
4. worst team with hughes. what is your point as would love to hear it.
5. vancouver is not rebuilding. they are doing their version of a flyers rebuild. which will fail, like the flyers “rebuild”. 2 shit organizations with a lot in common.
6. yes it does hamper the return if that is what your dead set on acquiring. how can you say otherwise. common send and business 101. its like not drafting the BPA
7. yes they got what they wanted. doesnt mean there wasn’t better packages out there.
8. yes they could have offered better. Seeing what vancouver received. Do you think MM was a better piece over rossi or buium?

Tocchet has a .609 win percentage over the last four seasons. Not complicated.
2. as I said dont see much of a difference and the results and on ice playback that up. please elaborate otherwsie.
They took care of business against weak sisters SJ and BUF but lost once in reg and twice in OT against COL, Vegas and CAR at home. Again, simple.
3. of course they dont have a dman like buium. a guy you have talked shit on all year. now he is hughes lite.
I talked shit about him? Said he was a fine prospect but needs a ton of work defensively. VAN is tanking, so they won’t care any time soon.
4. worst team with hughes. what is your point as would love to hear it.
5. vancouver is not rebuilding. they are doing their version of a flyers rebuild. which will fail, like the flyers “rebuild”. 2 shit organizations with a lot in common.
Check the standings. They’re the worst team in the league and the Flyers are in a playoff spot. The two teams are nothing alike. This is so simple, a small child would understand it.

Name one better package that was out there. Do you think the Rags offered Gabe Perrault straight up for Hughes? I’m impressed you can count to eight. What’s it like being the stupidest idiot in any room you enter?

ParticipantThere is an abundance of forwards currently on the roster who would be ideally slotted on a third line if they were a cup contender. Here’s my list- Cates, Dvorak, Couts, Brink, Grebenkin, and Tippett. Would not even mind players like Couts and Grebenkin sliding down to 4th line and really be able to roll 4 good lines. I would assume if this season is about “being in the mix for playoffs”, next season should be in the playoffs, no excuses. Seems logical.
The issue with a big package going the other way in a trade is I disagree about any great abundance for the Flyers anywhere, at least at the moment, and certainly at center and D. I think the roster looks pretty good and the Flyers, to me, look like a solid level just below elite team . . . when they’re healthy. That’s a pretty dodgy proposition. Having said all that, I think the Flyers will hold on and make the playoffs this year, just that they’re a year or two away from being able to put together an offer some team that needs to deal an elite center or Dman can’t refuse.
Fair assessment especially if the team finally continues to get average to above average goaltending. For me, ideally I would create a third line with Couts and Cates playing together. Of course, the current situation at center does not allow that to happen considering Tocchet’s reluctance to make Zegras a full time center. I would like to see some time in the future Zegras centering and having Foerster as one of his wings. The team gets the dynamic play making ability of Zegras at center with the two way play of Foerster. I just do not believe this current HC has an appetite for playing an offensive minded center. Hard to argue Zegras cannot play center because of faceoffs when Cates is around 43%. Cates plays center because of his defensive awareness at center. Sure seems Tocchet values defensive awareness as a top priority to playing center. I am just not sure a team can truly be elite when a team’s top 3 centers has such a large gap between defensive responsibility to offensive skill. Dvorak has pretty much been stapled next to Zegras the entire season. I find it hard to believe Dvorak would be able to maintain his current offensive production if away from Zegras. Basically, I do not believe a team can be a true contender without at least 1 center being a minimum 60 point player. The current 4 centers do not have that ability even with potentially elite wingers. I am not going to write Luchanko cannot be that player, but it is very much an unknown.
This year appears to win as many games as possible with the current roster, which is fine to a point. I was hoping for more experimentation with the roster to fit players into different roles, which if successful gets them that much closer to being a true contender. Already mentioned Zegras at center. When healthy, moving Foerster up the lineup away from Cates. Move Michkov back to RW and let him work thru his slump on the side he feels more comfortable on. On the good note, allowing Andrae to stay in the top 4. Hopefully, that continues when Risto returns. Riding Vladar more who has been a career backup.
I am certainly not against trading for high ceiling low floor players. That strategy helped to build the FLA dynasty. Whatever name that can be floated will come with some skepticism whether that player will pan out. Of course, that is the reason they are available and for significantly less compensation for a player of Quinn Hughes skill level.

I like the idea of a dedicated checking line but it seems to have fallen out of favor around the league. Faceoffs are Zegras’ Achilles heel. Yeah, Cates isn’t much better but you want Zegras with the puck. Look how he did last night. Zegras will be a “center” eventually. He’s playing “wing” because they have the Dvorak option and obviously Zegras is the reason CD is having a career year scoring. FLA didn’t really have offensive minded centers with Lundell or Bennett although SB explodes in the playoffs and Barkov is all world at two way play. He’s won 3 Selkes while being close to a career PPG guy. Of course, no Barkov, and some other guys, might mean no playoffs. Can definitely see Foerster and Zegras at some point. Aside from that, not sure where the scoring from the middle is going to come from. Agree about Luchanko. Not sure how well this team handles a lot of experimenting. They didn’t in the first smaller stretch of games with Foerster out when Tocchet did a fair amount of line juggling. On MM, Tocchet seems to prefer guys to not play the off wing. Definitely makes D-zone play along the boards. Same for defensemen. He’ll make exceptions for guys like Foerster or Sanheim. Michkov, not so much. MM does need a more skilled center offensively than Couturier.

you calling anyone an idiot is pure entertainment. you are nothing but a homer suck flyers ass fan. not a hockey fan as you don’t know much. you eat their shit and like it.– tocchet, like I said, is a losing coach. his record proves that.
– since you have comprehension issues I will say it again. There hasn’t been much diff with the forest or york out of the lineup. as you said again simple.
– yes you talked shit. is the jett still a better prospect in your eyes over buium?
– comprehension again. I said the 2 orginization were shit organizations. that’s a fact. you fluffing your feathers saying the flyers are in a playoff spot and vancouver isn’t doesn’t change that one iota dipshit.
– I dont kow what packages were offered nor did I imply I did. What I simply stated was what they accepted doesn’t mean that was the best offer. that comprehension thing again. Was MM a better piece than rossi or buium? no idea what perrault has to do with the conversation, though logic would tell me if vancouver wanted him the rangers would have no issue sending him packing.
at the end of the day your just a dumb fuck flyers fan who really believes this team is on the path to cup contention. Brick b brick. go flyers.

.609, read it and weep. That’s Tocchet’s record the last 4 seasons for “2 shit organizations.” Which is it? How did Tocchet get that record with not one but 2 “shit organizations” if he’s such a terrible coach? This is how I know how completely ignorant you are: Consistent self-contradiction.
I was busting on the Buium lovers about his atrocious early season minus numbers. I also said he’s a fine prospect with some fine offensive skills . . but he’s still a defensive liability. Today? Buium is the better, he’s in the NHL but still a flawed player. The trade is going to help him. Good D-minded coach in Foote, a team that won’t cut his ice time, like MIN was at times, no matter how many goals against he’s on for. He’s in the NHL and Luchanko isn’t. Get back to me in 1-2 years. Was MM a better piece in what? A trade the Flyers reportedly didn’t do anything other than, maybe, kick the tires on? Again, Hughes OK’ed the trade but hasn’t committed to extending.

– the comprehensive thing again. Was I not clear talking about his career? But hey use 4 years if it makes you feel good.
– facts show flyers and canucks are 2 losing peas in a pod
– comprehension rears its head again. Pretty clear what I asked about MM
– who care what Hughes approved. He didn’t have trade protection. Are you insinuating he didn’t want to come to the tocchet lead flyers who they said will attract players?

Hahahaha! You’re hilarious. Yes, let’s include the Tampa years from more than a decade and a half ago when they were between cups and floundering. What’s his record the last 4 seasons? Hahahaha!
Rutherford said they asked Hughes if he was OK with going to MIN. He was. Derp.
“When Minnesota came along I started talking to them, and they made their offer and talked through it, it was clearly the best one,” Rutherford said. “And so then there was a process of letting the other teams have another chance, seeing if Quinn had interest in going to Minnesota at this point in time, and got to that point and he thought at this time Minnesota would be a good fit for this year. Where it goes from there, that’s up to everybody else. It’s out of our hands.”
