ParticipantNothing is ruined or destroyed. Those of us who lived within our means are doing fine. The younger generation must learn to do the same, not just live on credit.
Mr.Carney is extraordinarily qualified to lead a financial resurgence. He has a well established cabinet around him. -CommieCupMay 15, 2025 at 11:41 am #5026Unholy_Goalie

Marner has a GWG against the Panthers. It’s Matthews that has done next to nothing this series.
Marner is the playmaker. If he’s dishing to a guy that misses his chances, it’s the shooters fault.
Nylander played great in the first 2 games, now he gets 5 breakaways a game and can’t do shit anymore.
The horrid PP is the coaches fault. Savard was jumping like a little girl skipping rope every time the Leafs scored but he’s not jumping around anymore. Berube is overrated but at least he has a hockey mind. I think Savard’s brain is too scrambled to be an NHL coach much less a competent one.

~FakepartofmeCan I dream that fancy pants Marner doesn’t give the puck directly to Florida leading to a goal?!?

ParticipantIf the leafs lose tomorrow do they even offer Marner a contract? Or just low ball him. No way they’re giving him anything in the ballpark that has been going around.

ParticipantWorst Leafs playoff game I have ever witnessed, and that goes back a long time.
I was the biggest believer in continuing to hold onto our assets.
Sorry, last night broke me.
Marner is gone.
Tavares is gone.
I can’t franking believe we gave up a 1st rounder to rent Laughton.
Next year will be a huge step backwards, but it’s better than the horrific inertia this team has made me suffer through for the past eight years.
FFS, how can you put forth such little effort last night?

~bryantI have no doubt the Leafs will try to retain Marner, he’s a heck of a player. But if he’s under any impression he’s getting a raise, then shoot him into the sun. Look at all the players that make more than he currently does, (okay, NOT Matthews). For the most part, they’re playoff studs. I don’t give a flying fuck what accolades you collect during the regular season, you’re paid for what you do in the playoffs.
I suspect after asking him to waive his NMC, he’s a little bitter towards the team. Also, the fans have/will turn on him, so does he really want to play in that environment? He seems like the kind of player that cares mostly about money, so he’ll find a team that’ll pay him $14-15Mx7 and fuck off. No hard feelings. He had a NMC, he had every right to refuse a trade. But good lord it would have been sweet if we landed Rantanen and were able to re-sign him.

~Atomic WedgieIn fairness, we thought the same thing after game 5 against Ottawa. That being said, I don’t think this group has the cahones to bounce back against a much better team, (than Ottawa). This is perhaps the most talented Leaf team we’ve seen in a LOOOOOOOONG time, but pure talent only gets you so far in the playoffs.

ParticipantMaybe it’s because I am geographically removed from the situation and maybe it’s because I don’t have the Leafer seniority experience many of you do, but I am NOT giving up hope yet.
Nobody expected the defending champs to go down without a fight and nobody realistically expected the Leafs to win in less than 6 or 7 games.
Granted, shitting the bed two games in a row is Leafy as fuck, but Berubae has one last chance to light a fire under this core and I am going to withhold final judgements until we see a handshake line.
GLG.
