ParticipantI’m betting Marner walks, anyway. He plays, looks and talks like he’s done here. It just looked toxic last night.
We went all in on a core that is made up of the wrong people and 50% of which will likely be gone.
Massive organizational failure from the top down.
Marner will sigh the Johnny Gaudreau retirement contract. He’ll go to some backwater, banjo picking team that has hockey behind baseball, football, basketball and a myriad of college sports franchises. He can do his little performance and collect for the next 7 years. No pressure, no playoffs. He wants to be a performer, not a hockey player. Good riddance.
I’d rather have Nick Ehlers and Brock Boeser for the same money. They may not have the numbers, but they have some Jam.

ParticipantFred Andersen, best goalie in the playoffs…

Lay off the safe injection sites.
Ehlers has 7 career playoff goals in 43 games. Boeser is a -25 pylon. Both soft as baby shit.

ParticipantI am in no mood to discuss the Leafs right now, but I started a thread in “The Locker Room” section – I invite you all to participate.
I had a good time trying to remember a lifetime of sporting events I have attended.

ParticipantAnybody who thinks the crowd, the atmosphere and home ice doesn’t mean anything needs to watch and learn a thing about the giant boost this Winnipeg crowd creates for their team. People absolutely rocking from the puck drop, total whiteout, costumes, chanting, passion, everybody on their feet, cheering, yelling, participating all game long.
The way Winnipeg is playing tonight, outshooting Dallas 32-15 so far in the 3rd period, up 3-0, is partly connected to how they feel at home. You can clearly see their play drop off on the road, but at home, they get a giant boost from the REAL fans in the stands. Dallas DOES NOT want to have to come back here for a Game 7.
Hellebuyck, another home shutout. It’s a shame he sucks though.
The Leafs home atmosphere is an absolute disgrace compared to the level of passion you see during Winnipeg and also Edmonton games in dire situations where they are behind in the series 3-1 or 2-0.
Home ice should be an advantage and the fans at the Leafs game had no reason to stay, but they were mute by comparison from puck drop onward.
Leafs ownership has to make a massive change in how their fans create a positive, helpful environment for their players.
Luke Schenn should still play for the Leafs by the way. Another idiot move by Leafs management.

ParticipantI wont be watching the game but Marner and matthews have an opportunity to change the narrative around them.

If the leafs lose, get rid of both.Until I hear otherwise, I strongly believe that Matthews is hurt.

~Atomic WedgieThat HAS to be the case. You don’t just fuck off to Germany completely unexplained in the middle of the season. You don’t go from scoring 69 one season to less than half that a year later without something going on. I’m just curious to hear what it is. Offense from him this postseason is pretty much a write off, but he’s playing well otherwise.

I saw the other day his shots from in around the net where he scores most of his goals, the speed on those shots is down 10km hr/ average 77 last year (69 goals) and this season they are around 67, so his wrist is prob not 100%.

If the leafs lose, get rid of both. -FakeThere is talk that Marner has already decided to leave and Matthews is injured and that explains their poor play. Who knows whether either is true. The problem with those theories is that they ignore the absymal playoff performance of those two for many years now.
I would not have believed Marner would walk for nothing, until recently. It would surprise no one if he decided he was done with the circus and the failure and wanted a new start.
I wouldn’t be disappointed to see them both gone and Rielly. I don’t really care about how good the team is at this point. I am sick of the annual slap in the face to the fans.
