ParticipantTo bad for the Leafs the NHL change the salary retention policy other wise the Leafs could of gotten some extra picks with that cap space.
Oh, really? What changes were made?
Word was Joshua would be skating before the Olympic break, so what’s the benefit for the Leafs to put him on LTIR? Opens up a roster spot or something?
if you do a double retention, then is has to be done 2 or 3 month in advance err something like that.
So if you trade for player A, the team can only retain like 50% of the player salary. You can longer include a 3rd team for retention unless it’s a few month prior.January 29, 2026 at 12:57 pm #62574Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantIn hindsight, Dubas was adequate. But I think the entire Shanny era was an unequivocal failure. The way Marner was handled from the start was a disaster, they gave the kid (or his dad) absolute power and got burned in the end.
Wrong again retard. They overpaid Tavares, made him the 2nd highest paid player in the entire NHL and he did nothing for this franchise in the playoffs. Once they overpaid Tavares, they overpaid everybody else after that. They treated Tavares, despite being the absolute worst playoff performer of all the “core” players, like a pajama God and retards like you scapegoated Marner into leaving. Small retarded minds like yours could only spew and repeat what the media, which is owned by the team, created as a narrative of blame on one player whom they were trying to play hardball with after bending over and taking it in the ass financially from Tavares, Nylander and Matthews. Reality has come full circle and now proven that without Marner, Nylander and Matthews are clearly incapable of carrying this team to any kind of success, in fact, the opposite happened, total collapse and failure followed.

Shanny’s first 5 years were pretty good. I did make some big positive changes for the leafs and how they were viewed around league and they were able to sign the biggest FA in sport at that time. The team looked like a genuine cup contender.
But Dubas was horrible at negotiating contracts and gave in to Matthews and marner who didnt earn or deserve those contracts at the time. Then for the final 5 years, Shanny refused to budge on the core 3. One of Marner or Nylander needed to be moved out for another type of star player.
But they werent.
Dubas giving whiny marner a NTC/NMC clause was another big mistake.
Tre almost changed the leafs franchise had marner accepted a trade to the Canes for Rantanen…that would have great improved the team. But it didnt happen and Tre made the ultimate mistake of trading two 1st round picks and quality prospects for a 3rd liner and 4th dman.
The 2026 1st rounder should never have been in play.
The leafs have Captain who doesnt seem to care that much
So many injuries and goalies who are not repeating the level of success they had last year (it short spurts they have)
A team that looks disorganized and continues to no show in games (am ongoing issue for the pat 6 years)
Now we have a coach that is trying to force a system on players who cant play it and a GM who simply isnt up for the task of making this team successful.
The leafs analytics were in a downward spiral for years but everything aligned for them last year to help win them the Atlantic.
That wasnt going to happen every year, as we have seen this year, injuries caught up to them
Its all so leafy. Which is the way it has to be.January 29, 2026 at 12:52 pm #62571Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantI’m a fat fuck retard.
I can change posts too. Might be difficult for a retard like yourself but it’s actually very simple.

ParticipantIn hindsight, eliminating the director of sports science and performance role at MLSE seems to have backfired considering all the injuries that have plagued this season.
But, hey, MLSE removed a few hundred K from the bottom line, shareholders must be happy!!!
Literally, the Leafs should have far and away the best facilities, doctors, and medical staff in the entire league. In a salary cap league, they should be spending TONS of money to make the team attractive to players and to give the team an edge on preventing and treating injuries. Strangely, by contract, the Blue Jays seem to be on the top end of the league when it comes to things like that.
Why can’t the Leafs have nice things?!?
The Leafs could have all of those things and it still wouldn’t matter if the retard GM is signing over the hill, broken down players like Tanev. Or Stolarz. Or any other guys they brought in way past their expiration date. It would be like building a structure with rusted steel beams and expecting it to hold up the test of time.
The real problem with the Leafs isn’t the medical staff. It’s the fact that they absolutely suck donkey cock at drafting and developing players. When great teams get hit by injuries, they have a next man up attitude. You think Tampa Bay, Vegas, Colorado or Florida haven’t had some injuries? Of course they have. The difference is they have depth and a system that works when the next guy up is plugged into the roster.
The Leafs, because they’re built by a retard, live and die on the performance of a couple key players. If they are hurt, playing poorly or get shut down, the rest of the team falls apart.

ParticipantI know you so desperately want even one of this lies to be true so that you look like less of a total retard but the reality is you were wrong and I was right. Cope. Seethe. Repeat.
Pro tip: If you’re going to call someone a retard, don’t make a retarded mistake in said post. You fat fuck retard.

Participantno need to shit on the Fans who do have faith in this team because you lost faith in the current Leafs team.
This has nothing to do with him losing faith in the current team, and everything to do with the fact that he has an utterly shitty life, likely no friends, a trash job, and nothing better to do than fight with strangers online.
100%, his ex fucked his brother, or dad back in 2008 and he’s never recovered.
I know you so desperately want even one of these abject lies to be true so that you look like less of a total retard but the reality is you were wrong and I was right. Cope. Seethe. Repeat.

ParticipantOh I was just saying if that trade did occur, Detroit could do a repeat when they got Murphy.
OEL is a good player but he isn’t Larry Murphy and this Detroit team isn’t that 90s Detroit team. Not even close.
Also, who gives a shit? As long as the Leafs get draft capital and are way out of the contender picture, any trade with any team is welcome as long as it improves the future of this team. Except Boston. Don’t bother with Boston. Will just end up being another loss for the Leafs.

There definitely is a need for it. Fans need to keep this franchise accountable. Also, a lot of people here insulted me for telling them the truth. And now I’m right. So they can suck it, deep, long and hard.

Participantthey can take teams bad contract to get a better return with more cap space[/quote]
I guess.a 3rd or 4th pick is better than what they have I suppose.
